Rising Stars: Meet Gabrielle Aguilar of Edina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Aguilar.

Hi Gabrielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a creative eye and a love for beautiful things, especially garments that carry emotion, intention, and meaning. My journey started quietly, at an early age I saw how much my mom loved her job, she was a fashion designer as well, along with my grandma’s love for making her own clothes. So I started stitching and designing pieces for myself and close friends. At the time, I didn’t have a big brand or formal setup just my hands, my vision, and a deep desire to create clothing that made women feel confident and seen.

Eventually, word of mouth began to grow, and I realized this was more than just a side hobby, it was a calling. That’s how Detalle Atelier was born: from a desire to offer something more personal, thoughtful, and tailored to each woman’s life and body. I work closely with my clients to bring their ideas to life, whether it’s for a wedding, a special occasion, or everyday elegance.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In many ways, the road has felt smooth because the passion has always been there. Designing, sewing, and bringing ideas to life never felt like work to me
it felt natural, like something I was meant to do. But life isn’t always linear, and like many creatives, I’ve had to navigate changes, responsibilities, and seasons that pulled my time and energy in different directions.

There have been moments when I couldn’t dedicate myself to my craft as fully as I wanted whether because of personal growth, career shifts, or simply the unpredictability of life. But I’ve come to realize that as I grow as a woman, my business grows with me. Every experience, even the detours, adds something to my work. It’s not always about perfect timing, but about staying connected to your purpose and showing up when you can.

So while the path hasn’t been free of challenges, I wouldn’t change it. It’s shaped me and given me the depth I now bring into every design, every fitting, and every relationship with my clients

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a fashion designer specializing in made-to-measure garments that are both elegant and intentional. My brand is rooted in a timeless, classy aesthetic — pieces that are well-constructed, flattering, and made to make women feel confident and refined. I also offer alterations, which has been a key part of my growth. It’s helped me understand how clothing moves with the body and how even the smallest adjustments can make someone fall in love with a piece again.

What sets my work apart is the combination of care, precision, and emotional connection. Whether I’m creating something from scratch or tailoring a garment with history, I approach it with the same level of detail and respect. I’m still defining my niche, but I know my purpose: to serve women through craftsmanship, beauty, and clothes that feel like they were truly made for them.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Honestly, it’s the little things that make my day feel complete almost like pieces of a puzzle falling into place. It all starts with my mindset: staying positive, showing up with intention, and embracing the hustle. Whether I’m alone in my studio, meeting with a client, sourcing fabrics, picking out fresh flowers to set up or even just cleaning and preparing the space for weekly fittings , all of it brings me joy.

I’ve realized that these small, consistent actions done with care and joy are what build a meaningful, fulfilling life. They’re the quiet steps that move me forward, up the hill and toward a richer, more purposeful version of success.
