Today we’d like to introduce you to Bo Steez.
Hi Bo, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been deeply connected to music for as long as I can remember. I started singing and rapping around the age of 7 or 8, and even then, I knew I experienced music differently. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was a language I felt fluent in. I was raised in the church, where I sang in the choir, and I also participated in school choirs and studied music theory. These early experiences laid a strong foundation, but my true creative journey didn’t begin until my teenage years.
One of my closest friends had the bright idea that we should start making music ourselves, since we were already spending so much time studying how the greats did it. That conversation lit a spark in me. I began writing and recording music, immersing myself in every aspect of the craft. I spent countless hours in studios listening, learning, experimenting, and soaking up everything I could.
Eventually, I began taking myself seriously as an artist. I took a leap of faith and started releasing my own music while also writing and producing for others. It’s been a journey full of growth, late nights, and creative breakthroughs but at the heart of it all, it’s always been about honoring the gift and sharing the emotion that music has always given me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely not always been smooth. I struggled with perfectionism, always being my own worst critic. Crippled by fear and the thought of being judged by my peers. Wondering if my music was good enough? All kept me from being at my full potential.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a multi-disciplinary artist. I write and produce music. I design clothing and merchandise, and graphic designing as well. I do photography and videography for all of the visuals we’ve created.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is the quality and intention behind the art I create. I want my work to be more than just entertainment I want it to be a source of inspiration, healing, and connection for others. I believe in creating with purpose, and I strive to pour honesty and depth into everything I make. Beyond my personal artistry, I’m passionate about building a supportive community and infrastructure that uplifts other artists and creatives. I want to help open doors for those coming after me, just like I’ve benefited from those who came before. Legacy, impact, and authenticity are what drive me most.
