We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emma Halet. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Emma, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love this question! This year, I’ve really made it a priority to improve my work/life balance—and it’s been such a rewarding shift. Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot on my health and overall well-being. I’ve been diving into yoga, strength training, and personal training sessions, and I’m spending more time in the kitchen cooking meals that fuel my body and support my goals (hello, macro tracking!).
When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me outside—going on long walks, paddleboarding on the lake, or simply enjoying my morning coffee in the fresh air. I’ve also been soaking up quality time with friends, whether it’s a cozy bonfire night, a competitive pickleball match, or a casual movie evening.
All in all, life’s been feeling full, balanced, and really, really good lately.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m Emma Halet, a wedding and elopement photographer with a heart for helping couples feel confident and supported every step of the way.
What sets me apart from the average photographer is how involved I am in the planning process. I’m not just here to take beautiful photos—I’m here to guide you through the entire journey. From helping you choose the perfect wedding package to providing outfit guides for your engagement session, curated vendor recommendations, and detailed wedding planning guides, I offer as much support as I can to make things easier for you.
I believe your wedding experience should be joyful and stress-free, and I’m honored when clients tell me, “Working with you has been so easy!” or “You’ve made this process completely stress-free—thank you!” That’s exactly what I aim for.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I’m a big-time extrovert—I genuinely love being around people, and I get so much energy from connection and conversation. Growing up, I was definitely the kid who always had “talks too much” written on her report card. For a long time, I saw my loudness and chattiness as flaws—like they were something I needed to tone down or apologize for.
But as I’ve grown into myself (and into my career), I’ve come to realize those traits are actually some of my greatest strengths. My outgoing, high-energy personality is a huge part of what makes my work so rewarding—for both me and my clients. I’m able to create a fun, relaxed environment where couples feel completely at ease. Whether we’re dancing in a field, cracking jokes during portraits, or sharing a quiet moment between shots, I help people let their guard down and show up as their most carefree, authentic selves.
Being extroverted isn’t just part of who I am—it’s a core part of how I connect, create, and tell love stories in a way that feels personal, joyful, and real.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
If I’m being honest, I don’t think success is what teaches us the most. It’s the hard lessons—the tough moments in business—that truly shape us into resilient, long-term business owners.
It’s the experience of navigating a tough client conversation, or realizing (a little too late) that your contract needs to cover more specific boundaries—like unexpected Photoshop requests from a client’s parent—that really stick with you. These moments may be uncomfortable, but they’re powerful teachers. They help you build stronger systems, set clearer expectations, and—most importantly—establish firm, healthy boundaries.
In the end, it’s those hard-earned lessons that give you the confidence and clarity to run your business with intention and integrity. That’s where real growth comes from.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I love this question because, honestly, I don’t think we’re seeing foundational shifts in the wedding industry. Trends come and go, but at its core, the essence of weddings remains the same: people celebrating love in a way that feels meaningful to them.
We might see new, modern wedding venues pop up—but that doesn’t mean the charm of a rustic barn or an old warehouse is going anywhere. Couples will always gravitate toward what feels personal and authentic to them.
This year, I’ve noticed trends like incorporating fruit into table centerpieces—a style that actually dates back to the 1800s—and a growing interest in film photography, which, ironically, is one of the oldest forms of capturing images. These aren’t groundbreaking changes—they’re nostalgic elements being reimagined with a fresh twist.
As a wedding photographer, it’s exciting to watch these subtle shifts in style and aesthetics. But are they truly transformative or foundational? In my opinion, not really. Everything in this industry tends to come full circle, just dressed up in a new way.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Oh, absolutely—all the time. I don’t think I’ll ever feel truly “satisfied,” and honestly, I’m okay with that. It’s not about a lack of gratitude—I’m actually incredibly humble and deeply thankful for the life I’ve built. I feel so fortunate to wake up every day and live a life that once only existed in my dreams.
But that gratitude doesn’t stop me from striving for more. I’m always working toward growth—in my business, my relationships, my health, and every other area of my life. I think it’s possible to be both content and driven. To love where you are, while still reaching for something even better.
