Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Reinking.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I arrived in the United States from Mexico City in 1977 on a mathematics scholarship, eager to pursue new opportunities. That journey led me to earn a double major in Mathematics and Finance, and later an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Early in my career, I spent five years at Hewitt Associates, where I had the privilege of developing the first U.S. index to track investor behavior on a daily basis. In that role, I also carried the responsibility of money manager and fund selection for more than $60 billion in assets — an experience that gave me a unique perspective on markets and the psychology of investors.
For over 25 years since, I have dedicated my career to serving as an Investment Consultant and Wealth Manager. My work has been driven by a simple mission: to help high-net-worth clients build, preserve, and grow their wealth with discipline, foresight, and care.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
During the last 25 years, I helped my clients overcome many crises, including:
1. Global Financial Crisis (2007–2009): Worst since the Great Depression. Markets: Dow -50%, S&P 500 -57%.
2. COVID-19 Crash (2020): Fastest and sharpest market collapse in history. Markets: S&P 500 -34% in just 23 trading days. Unemployment briefly >14%, GDP collapsed in Q2 2020.
3. Dot-Com Bubble Burst (2000–2002): Severe tech sector collapse. Markets: NASDAQ -80%; S&P 500 -49%. Early 2000s recession.
We’ve been impressed with Reinking Financial Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I combine a disciplined quantitative approach with hands-on experience managing large portfolios to build globally diversified strategies designed around each client’s individual risk preferences.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
With more than 25 years of investment experience, I provide guidance grounded in objectivity and deep financial expertise. As a fee-only registered investment advisor, my independence sets me apart: I never accept commissions from the investments I recommend, ensuring that every decision is made solely in the best interest of my clients. Upholding my fiduciary duty is not just a legal obligation, but the foundation of the trust I build with those I serve.
