Meet Addison Cameron of Stillwater, MN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Addison Cameron.

Hi Addison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into interior design has been both a lifelong passion and a natural extension of my upbringing. Raised by entrepreneurs and realtors who had an eye for design, I was immersed in a world where creativity and business intersected from an early age. As a child, I had a knack for transforming spaces – even if it meant rearranging my room in the middle of night. This environment sparked a creative force within me that has driven my design career and laid the foundation for my pursuit of design excellence.

While completing my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, I also studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain. The city’s rich architectural heritage has profoundly influenced my aesthetic, infusing my work with vintage elements that accommodate modern-day living. My design philosophy is rooted in creating spaces that are not only visually captivating, but also functionally optimized. Whether it’s through innovative layouts or thoughtful details, I strive to bring a touch of artistry and efficiency to every project.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my own interior design company has been a rewarding yet challenging journey. One of the hardest parts has been finding new clients – clients who are not just looking for design solutions, but who are also ready to take a leap of faith on a small startup. It’s tough when you know your ideas and vision could truly transform a space, but convincing others to believe in you when you’re still establishing your reputation is an uphill battle. As a small business, every project feels like a huge opportunity, but it also means putting in countless hours networking, building relationships, and proving that I’m just as capable as the bigger, more established firms. It’s hard to stand out in such a competitive industry, but each project I get, each client who believes in my vision, adds a layer of validation that keeps me going. But despite the challenges, I remain passionate. Every small success is a step forward, and I’m building my foundation one design at a time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an interior designer located in the hills of Stillwater, MN. Whether it’s a full renovation or adding a few standout furniture pieces and accessories, I pride myself on taking a practical, functional approach to interior design while still celebrating the beauty and craftsmanship of vintage and antique furnishings. I believe in creating spaces that are both visually captivating and liveable – where history and modern convenience coexist seamlessly. My designs always integrate timeless pieces with modern-day living, ensuring that each space not only looks unique but also enhances your lifestyle.

What makes you happy?
As a perfectionist in my work, nothing makes me happier than seeing a design come together flawlessly. It’s the satisfaction of knowing every detail has been meticulously considered, and everything aligns perfectly. In my personal life, though, happiness is found in simpler moments; a good book, an iced matcha, and the sound of rain falling outside. These little moments of calm help me recharge and maintain balance.
