Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Eicher.
Hi Kristi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It was never my plan to be in the beauty industry. I was going to school at the U of M Minnesota at the time I decided to treat myself to a manicure which I did not do often as a poor college student .the nail technician at the time asked who did my nails and I said I did. She said oh you do nails ,I said no I just do them myself and she said well you should which started me on my path .later with Drew from classes at the U of M and signed up for BEAUTY school at Maxim‘s beauty Academy in Blaine. I had my first job as an employee in Highland Park later in Saint Paul and then I eventually opened up my own salon on grand Avenue that I had for 10 years later another Salon in White Bear Lake and then I closed that salon when I got married and rented a station as an independent that leads me to where I am today I have a private suite in Salon of JC for the last seven years in Maplegrove for a total of 35 years. In the middle of that I was a CND Education ambassador teacher all of the metro and tri state area.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think anytime you are working with a lot of creative brains there can be conflict, but for the most part I have made a some life long friends. I had a life thre trephi Acc accident in 2001 that laid me up for close to a year that was a little stressful, not knowing whether you will still have clients to come back to that very fortunate that I recovered almost a flow clientele. I would say the other hardship was Covid when Minnesota shut down for three months much the same when your clients have to learn to live without you sometimes they do so you didn’t know what you were coming back to or when we are going back to work and the loss of income was extreme. But I think we only become strong stronger when you get on the other side of conflict.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a nail technician and have been for 35 years. I have extensive training beyond initial certification specially once I became a CND ambassador the training that they put you through is extensive. I would say my specialty is my attention to detail. I do all types of nail services, natural nails, artificial, enhancements, and pedicures my clients like to call me the pedicure queen I take pride in my level of sanitation. I also love doing nail art. I have obtained a lot of new clients over the years from my social media. Post of my nail art. I love to individualize everybody’s Nails. My clients have often become more than just clients. Two of my very best friends in this world were long time. Clients. I feel it’s very important to use professional grade products to ensure the integrity of my clients health.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Well I’m an independent now in a private studio so I don’t have any coworkers but when I was working in a full-service salon, we did do a lot of collaboration. I also am in very passionate about the fight against breast cancer. I headed up an open house/house salon warming Party that we did a fundraiser for breast cancer. All of our funds went to making strides, which is a division of the American Cancer Society we are the highest grossing fundraisers at the time. They did a cover story on one of my best friends at the time with WCCO where Liz Collins won an award for her story
