Abi Teeters shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Abi, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
My why. I’m not a wedding photographer “just because it’s a job” or “just to make money”. I truly love the connections and relationships I make with my clients over the years and providing them with photos that are part of their story. From engagement, to wedding day and growing their family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Abi Teeters, the owner and photographer behind Abi Jane Photography. I specialize in wedding and elopement photography, and I’m lucky enough to travel all over capturing love stories in some of the most beautiful places. What makes my work special to me is the human connection — I truly thrive off the relationships I build with my couples. It’s such an honor to be invited into such meaningful moments, from documenting their engagements and wedding days to later photographing their pregnancies and growing families. Being part of those chapters and watching their love evolve over time is something I’ll never take for granted.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I believed that success meant hustling nonstop and constantly climbing to the top of whatever I was doing. I thought the only way to feel fulfilled was to keep pushing for more — more work, more goals, more achievements. Over time, though, I’ve learned that true fulfillment comes from enjoying the journey and creating space for the things that matter most to me, like my family and the life I’m building outside of work. I still care deeply about my business, but I approach it with a lot more intention now.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self to slow down and trust that everything will unfold the way it’s meant to. You don’t have to have it all figured out right away, and you don’t have to prove your worth through how hard you work. The right opportunities, people, and moments will find you — just keep showing up with heart, stay true to yourself, and enjoy the ride.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that connection and presence really matter to me. Whether it’s with my family, friends, or clients, I care deeply about being fully there — listening, laughing, and making people feel seen. They’d also say I value experiences over things — slow mornings, meaningful conversations, traveling to beautiful places, and creating memories with the people I love.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m by the water — whether it’s a quiet lake, the ocean, or even just sitting near a stream. There’s something about the sound and movement of water that instantly grounds me and helps me breathe a little deeper. It’s where I feel most like myself and most connected to the world around me.
