Community Highlights: Meet Miranda Aulie of Wishing Well Therapy Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Aulie.

Hi Miranda, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always worked in the helping fields, before I pursued my Social Work degree I worked in healthcare. After working several years as a therapist, I started noticing a number of women in the window of perimenopause/menopause discussing symptoms related to ADHD. I also saw other symptoms that seemed to be impacted by women’s hormones. It was at that time, I thought of opening Wishing Well Therapy Services, a practiced geared towards women’s mental health. I wanted to create a safe and supportive space to help bridge the gap between our physical well-being and mental, teach advocacy when it comes to women’s overall health, and address issues through the female lens.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think when you are doing what you love, it certainly helps ease the stress of it all, and I love this work! However, it has taken a while to create availability to maintain some of my insurance clients I have been seeing at an agency setting, to creating the space to see clients at my own private practice. This I would say has been the most challenging part as I continue to work to meet the needs of clients in which care has already been established and creating the space to pursue something that is totally and uniquely mine.

We’ve been impressed with Wishing Well Therapy Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love creating a safe and beautiful space to help women heal and grow. I think the experiences and stories of women are beautiful, however I also understand how being a woman in this world can come with its own set of barriers and difficulties. Tailoring therapy around that unique lens for me is an important part of therapy, because it speaks to all of it, what is at the surface and what lies deeper beneath.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I don’t think many people know but will soon see, is that prior to getting my Social Work Degree, I had considered a career in interior design. The very same care, effort and consideration I put into my work in session, I also put into creating a beautiful space which not only has been fun, but also extremely rewarding when I see the look on people’s faces when they see their therapy space for the first time. The space was inspired by art deco/art nouveaux to help represent the deep history of the building it is held in.
