Daily Inspiration: Meet Janis Quinlan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janis Quinlan.

Hi Janis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My ex-husband I purchased this sport’s bar named Jethro’s. We decided to rename it to Quinny’s Sports Pub. Made it through Covid, but our marriage did not. We divorced in 2022, and I retained ownership of Quinny’s. I decided in the Spring of 2022 to put on an addition. After 10 months, I had to fire the builder. They were doing illegal things. To get to the point, 2 1/2 years of attorneys, we went to mediation. It didn’t got well, but during this time, i was able to finish with another builder which is now known as Pub Q. It is used for private parties, and overflow. It’s a 1920’s style Irish Pub. Very unique. Quinny’s continues to thrive and has become a neighborhood fixture, a sort of ‘Cheers’ bar. We have live music 3 days a week, a Yaht rock DJ on Tuesdays, Trivia on Mondays, poker on Wednesdays, and bingo on Saturdays.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The lawsuit should have bankrupted me, but through wonderful people who loaned me money, I am still able pay bills. We are growing and getting better.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
This is an Irish Sport’s Pub that I am the owner. It’s not a chain restaurant. We have fantastic food, great specials. We are know for our homemade soups, handmade reuben eggrolls, broasted chicken, awesome sandwiches and hamburgers.

What matters most to you? Why?
Happy customers. The energy of my pub is great. I want people to feel good about their experience. Times are hard and I try to keep things affordable. I want to have very happy employees. That will transfer to the customers.
