In April of 2001 he was ordained a Minister by Pastor Alfred Harris Sr. at Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church.
In June 2001, Pastor McKizzie and family removed their membership from Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church and started ministering to the elderly at Walker Methodist Nursing Home. He was compelled to spend the last months, of his Grandmother Mary Boone’s life, preaching the gospel and singing hymns of praise to those suffering from Dementia. In the past 31 years they have welcomed into their home over one hundred foster children and have adopted seven.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was rough in some stages of my life’s journey. I lost my oldest brother when I was 13 years old and he was 16 years old. Then I lost my next oldest brother when he was 40 years old. But even suffering from losing those close to me I found my soul mate around the time my middle brother passed away. When she came into my life and got saved and became a regular member in church, then a deacon, and finally I answered the call to ministry. I can truly say that life has been much better since I gave my life to Jesus Christ.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I was bi-vocational and when I retired from Target Corporation and began full time ministry. I’m the senior pastor and founder of New Creation Baptist Church. Our ministry specializes in family. We have men’s, women’s, youth, young adult, and senior ministries. We are known for our outreach ministry that consist of our NCBC Food Shelf that serves the metro communities. I’m most proud being the pastor of a loving family centered church. What sets us apart is that we exhibit the love of Christ.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the diversity of our city. What I like least is the lack of affordable housing.
