Today we’d like to introduce you to Tacandrya Patterson.
Hi Tacandrya , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am the Brand Developer and Chief Executive Officer at Optimismic and Gifts Shop in Minnesota. Optimismic was established in 2015.
I am also a Certified Healthcare Access Specialist and Patient Access Specialist at Children’s Minnesota.
Born in New York in December 1978. I was raised and educated in Milwaukee and Minnesota.
My family moved to Minnesota in the late 80’s. When you could order music videos from the box and get 10 Cds for $1.00 from Columbia House lol.
Graduated from Southwest High School in 1997 and Graduated from Minnesota School of business in 2003. Starting working at Children’s on 2003 also. I worked as a Patient Registration Trainer at Children’s for 10 years
In my spare time I run marketing campaigns, I write poetry and play online scrabble on ISC.ro under OptimismIC.
I enjoy spending the holidays playing spades with the kids Dorien Evans, Charles Evans Anderson and Rayelle Evans Galyen who are the C suite executives of our family business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not always smooth no. Bootstrapping in the beginning was hard. I remember moving the store from our Richfield location to the lake street location. I was so excited and then boom the pandemic occurred and the non essential stores needed to be closed. I was shocked. So I shuffled to figure out how to open up again. You get everything set up to open and to be in compliance and boom the lake street riots tore the whole place up again. That was one of those moments when you say. I am not doing this again ever. You build something new from ground up with your own money and it’s destroyed. Personally It was a very defeating time. This was May 2020 we were only on Lake Street for 6 months. The online store was still in operation but things were a mess.
In September 2020 we moved to the OptimismIC to St Paul in Signal Hills Shopping Center where we are currently.
We have been here for the last 5 years. God doesn’t make mistakes. I assumed if a business can survive a pandemic and a riot and still survive it is supposed to keep going. I just stay positive and optimistic keep going forward for my team, existing clients, future clients and myself. Optimism had a lot of support and people who helped during the riots Pandemics and slow periods who actively liked to see it continue and prosper. I’m grateful for that.

Optimism Integrity and Contentment LLC and Optimismic Wigs and Gifts were both established in 2015. We are family owned privately operated and funded.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We are Quaint and family owned and operated. The family handles the entire operation from Artwork Design Marketing Advertising etc which allows for cost efficiency.
In the summer of 2025 successfully implemented AI, education and Interactive online catalogs into our retail practices.
We have our own in house marketing and advertising along with product development. We offer support services to other businesses as well.
We like to build people up and help the community where we can. We like to show people and out customers in the best light. We love them.
