Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Halliday.
Hi Brooke, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I started dreaming about a holistic wellness practice back in 2018 while he was in chiropractic school. We both knew we had more to learn from people who had been in the field longer than us and intended to work and learn for the next 10+ years before going out on our own. I ended up finding opportunity in the Alexandria, MN area we moved to in 2021 to open my own practice and had to make the leap. We had the intention that we would still merge our practices at some point still years down the line. We had our son in 2022 and were finally falling into a groove with our work and parenting when in 2024 we stumbled upon a chance to take over a thriving chiropractic practice run by two brothers in Hopkins, MN. And after meeting them and hearing about their business we knew this was the type of community we wanted to be in and legacy we wanted to continue of just being a part of a community as providers who care about people. So in 6 weeks we packed up our lives, sold our house, and moved to start on our dream that we thought was still years in the making. Now we’ve been in practice together for a little over a year and we love it and the community we serve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh gosh– Does anyone have a smooth road for anything? Ha! My husband and I have always been amazing teammates so that has never been a challenge but legal paperwork and dealing with companies… there’s always headaches. We also had to work to earn the trust of the patients who had to change providers when we purchased the chiropractic business and so while that can take some time, I don’t know that I would call it a struggle. I think you should have to earn people’s trust, especially as a healthcare provider.
We’ve been impressed with Redbird Wellness, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a husband and wife owned wellness practice offering mental health counseling and chiropractic care in Hopkins, MN. We specialize in looking at the whole person; mental and physical. We empower people to make choices for themselves that are in line with their goals without being pushy about how we can help them. We want people to know they can trust us and that there is no rush, we’ll be here when they are ready. We want to put good service and care out into the world. From a brand perspective, gosh such an interesting question because I don’t think of us as a brand. I guess I don’t really want people to view as a brand. I want them to view us as two humans with healthcare knowledge that are dependable and understanding. That we are reliable and causal. But more important than any of that I want people to know we are a safe space for people to come in and explore things they have maybe been avoiding; mental or physical. We offer chiropractic adjustments, manual therapies like cupping, scraping, and dry needling, physical rehab, and trauma informed mental health care with a certified EMDR therapist.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I want our practice to grow and bring in more alternative providers. As far as healthcare itself goes, I don’t want to speculate on that because I think how people are treated, how healthcare is viewed, and access is constantly changing.
