Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole And Jess Anderson.
Hi Cole and Jess, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cole first discovered his love for construction in high school. Even though he didn’t pursue it full time after graduating, the passion never left. We got married in 2020, bought our first home in 2021, and immediately jumped into remodeling it from the ground up—sheetrock, insulation, electrical, windows… all of it.
I’ve always had a deep love for design and all things home, but because we were serving in ministry, those passions mostly lived within our own four walls.
When we decided to step away from vocational ministry, it opened a new door—one that allowed us to bring our gifts together. That’s when Craft and Calling Co. was born: a design and construction company rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest transitions has been learning how to work together again, but in a brand-new way. Shifting from ministry roles into running a design and construction business brought its own set of challenges—figuring out how to balance our strengths, communicate well, and create healthy boundaries between work and home.
For Cole, a lot of the learning curve has been around constant problem-solving and needing to think quickly on his feet, especially when unexpected issues come up on a project. And for both of us, time management has been an ongoing growth area—juggling client needs, project timelines, and still trying to protect our family rhythms.
It’s been stretching, but it’s also been refining. Every challenge has made us stronger as a team and more confident in the work we’re building together.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Craft and Calling cO?
Craft and Calling Co. is a design and construction company deeply rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and intention. We’ve had the privilege of working on everything from full home renovations to custom dining nooks, built-ins, and unique specialty pieces that make a house feel truly personal.
While we originally imagined focusing most of our work in the Elk River area, the business has grown in ways we didn’t expect. We now regularly take on projects in cities like Minneapolis, Wayzata, and surrounding communities—areas filled with colonial, cottage, and character-rich homes that perfectly fit our style and passion.
One of the things that truly sets us apart is our responsiveness. When someone reaches out, we make it a priority to communicate quickly, provide timely proposals, and keep the process moving. We know how frustrating it can be to wait around for days or weeks just to get an estimate, and we never want our clients to feel that way.
Brand-wise, we’re most proud of creating a company that blends craftsmanship with calling—work that is both skillfully built and deeply meaningful. We want readers to know that whether you’re dreaming of a major renovation or a custom piece that elevates your space, we’re committed to thoughtful design, quality construction, and a client experience that feels personal, clear, and dependable. We specialize in all home renovations — whatever the client wants, we make it happen!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We definitely haven’t built this business alone, and there are a few people who deserve a huge amount of credit for where we are today.
Cole’s brother, Nolan, has been an incredible support from the very beginning. He’s not only been a source of encouragement, but he also steps in as a subcontractor whenever we need framing or welding work. His skill and willingness to jump in have made a big difference for us on multiple projects.
Cole has also been greatly shaped by working alongside our friend Ryan, who has taught him so much on the job. The hands-on experience, shared problem-solving, and the time Ryan invested into helping him grow have been invaluable.
On the design side, I’ve learned so much from friends who have opened their homes to me—letting me walk through their spaces, study layouts, and absorb different design trends. Those moments have helped me refine my eye, grow in confidence, and stay inspired creatively.
We’re really grateful for the people who have poured into us, shared their knowledge, and supported us through each step of this journey. They’ve played a significant role in shaping Craft and Calling Co. into what it is today.
