Hi Mai, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a love for the beauty industry. Skin was my first passion, and I was drawn to how it reflects confidence, care, and individuality. That love naturally grew into lashes and brows enhancing not just how someone looks, but how they feel. From the beginning, my goal has been to help people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin.
I began my journey by attending esthetics school just as COVID reshaped the world. While the timing was uncertain, it pushed me to fully commit to my craft. I started by working for someone else, gaining hands-on experience and improving my skills, but I eventually realized I wanted to build something of my own. That led me to work independently and create a brand that reflects care, purpose, and quality.
Today, my business reflects growth, resilience, and a strong commitment to helping every client leave feeling confident, comfortable, and empowered.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was building a consistent clientele, especially early on. Learning how to attract, retain, and truly connect with clients took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error. I also faced the challenge of figuring out how to expand my offerings understanding which services aligned with my vision while still meeting my clients’ needs.
Those moments of uncertainty pushed me to grow beyond my comfort zone. They taught me how to be adaptable, creative, and intentional with my business decisions. Looking back, those struggles were necessary; they shaped my confidence as an entrepreneur and ultimately helped me build a stronger, more sustainable business.
We’ve been impressed with MaiBeauty LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is rooted in intentional beauty and confidence. I specialize in lashes, and brows, with a focus on enhancing natural features rather than covering them up. Every service I offer is personalized, and each client is treated with care because I believe beauty should feel easy, natural, and true to who you are.
What sets my brand apart is the experience. I’ve created a space where clients feel comfortable, cared for, and welcome from the moment they walk in. I take the time to explain lash and brow care and make sure results look good and last. My work is guided by both skill and attention to detail.
I’m most proud of building my business on my own and growing it naturally. From building my client base to adding new services, every step came with challenges that helped shape where I am today. This brand represents growth not just mine, but my clients’ confidence too.
I want readers to know my brand is about more than beauty services. It’s about trust, confidence, and helping people leave feeling good about themselves. Beauty is personal to me, and that belief is behind everything I do.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the value of building genuine connections with my clients. Trust and consistency matter just as much as the service itself. I’ve also learned the importance of not giving up, even during moments when I felt close to walking away. There were times when growth felt slow, but staying consistent made all the difference.
Continuing to promote myself and share my work on social media helped me gain confidence and reach new clients. Showing up, even when it felt uncomfortable, taught me that progress comes from persistence. Those lessons shaped not only my business, but also my belief in myself.
