Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Amys.
Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in a small rural town in Northwest Wisconsin as the oldest of six kids. From a young age, I learned responsibility, leadership, and how to take care of others—sometimes before I fully knew how to take care of myself. Life was simple and hardworking, and community mattered. Those roots still ground me today.
I’ve always been deeply curious about people—how we think, how we heal, and how we come back into alignment with ourselves. That curiosity led me to earn a degree in Psychology and spend over twelve years working in the nonprofit world, primarily alongside people with disabilities. My work included advocacy, teaching, managing programs and budgets, and leading committees and community coalitions. More than anything, it taught me the importance of honoring each person as the expert of their own life, meeting people where they are at on their journey, and using our voices to advocate for our needs.
One of the most meaningful threads in my life has been my sharing my passion for education, reading, and volunteerism with the Duluth Superior Rolling Readers program. I’ve been with the organization for over thirteen years and currently serve as President and Co-Coordinator. At its heart, Rolling Readers is about literacy—but for me, it’s about connection. It’s about creating safe, encouraging spaces where kids feel seen, capable, and supported. Reading has always been one of my greatest loves, and sharing that love feels like a natural extension of who I am.
Over time, my work began to shift in ways that felt more aligned with my values and inner wisdom. I became a Certified Inner Alignment Coach, a yoga teacher, and earned a certification in Organizational Management. While these paths may look different on paper, the core foundation is guiding people back to their truth and inner wisdom. I believe we are all the experts on our own lives—my role is not to fix or rescue, but to walk alongside, offer tools, and help create space for clarity and self-trust.
I’m also a single mom to two young kids, two of my greatest blessings and teachers. Motherhood has deepened my commitment to holistic well-being—for myself, my children, and my community. I care deeply about clean beauty, eco-friendly living, education, and creating environments that support well-being and harmony. I want my kids to grow up knowing that how we care for ourselves, our homes, and the planet truly matters.
When I’m not working or parenting, you’ll usually find me reading, hiking, exploring nature, or traveling when I can—near or far. Being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, learning, and staying curious helps me stay grounded and connected.
At the core of everything I do is a belief in small, intentional change. I believe that when we slow down, listen inward, and make choices grounded in compassion and integrity, meaningful transformation happens. My life and work are about creating space—for healing, for growth, and for people to feel more connected to themselves and to one another.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Around 2020 during COVID, like many of us, I entered a season of deep burnout. I was parenting young kids, working full-time, and navigating growing challenges in my marriage. I was doing my best to hold everything together, but I was exhausted and disconnected from myself. Over time, the stress showed up physically through high blood pressure, which became a wake-up call I couldn’t ignore.
In 2022, I navigated a divorce while continuing to parent and work. It was incredibly painful, humbling, AND also clarifying. That year, I started my own coaching business and transitioned from full-time nonprofit work into consulting on a mental health grant project. For the first time, I began making choices that felt more aligned with my values and well-being, even when they felt uncertain.
In 2023, I experienced what I would describe as a spiritual awakening. Through inner alignment coaching and a deepening connection with God, I began reconnecting with myself on a soul level. I slowed down, listened inward, and started trusting that there was guidance beyond my own effort and control. Reconnecting to faith and spirituality became a grounding force—one that continues to shape how I live, parent, and lead.
While these experiences have been challenging, they’ve help me return home to myself. They taught me the importance of boundaries, alignment, and living in a way that’s sustainable and authentic. The struggles became turning points, and through the pain I’ve found purpose. It’s allowed me to show up with more compassion, presence, and trust that everything is working out right on time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the core of my work is a whole-being, bottom-up approach to well-being and growth. I guide people back to their own inner wisdom rather than telling them who to be or what to fix. I believe each person is the expert on their own life, and my role is to create safe, supportive space and offer tools that help them reconnect with their truth.
My work weaves together inner alignment coaching, mindfulness, movement, and practical support. I also host the Whole Mom Podcast, where I have honest, compassionate conversations about motherhood, identity, growing and evolving, and living in alignment. The podcast has been a creative outlet, a way to connect with other women, a serve in a meaningful way —especially mothers—to feel less alone and more connected to themselves.
I specialize in guiding women who feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, helping them slow down, listen to their bodies, and make choices that are more aligned and sustainable. Rather than focusing only on mindset or productivity, I work from the ground up, honoring the body, emotions, and lived experience as the foundation for lasting change.
What I’m most proud of is the way I show up—with presence, compassion, and integrity. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. I believe in meeting people where they are and walk alongside them as they build trust with themselves.
What sets my work apart is integration. I blend psychology, somatic practices, spirituality, real-life experience, and motherhood into an approach that’s both grounded and soulful. My goal isn’t to change people, but to help them remember who they already are and create lives that actually feel authentic and aligned.
How do you define success?
My definition of success has changed over the years. Today, success for me looks like living in alignment—with my values, my body, my faith, and my season of life. I’ve learned it’s not about constant growth, hustle, or checking boxes. It’s about creating a life that actually feels supportive and sustainable.
Success to me means having the freedom to listen inward and make choices that honor my well-being and my family. It looks like being present with my kids, doing meaningful work, and having the courage to slow down when my body asks for rest. It’s trusting myself, setting boundaries, and choosing integrity over urgency. As Brene Brown says, “I’m a recovering perfectionist and an inspiring good-enoughist.”
I also define success by impact. If my work helps someone feel more connected to themselves, more grounded in their body, or more trusting of their own inner wisdom, that matters deeply to me. Success is guiding others back to their truth while continuing to do that work in my own life.
For me, success is living a life that feels vibrant, loving, and meaningful—one where I’m not abandoning myself to meet expectations, but instead creating space for connection and growth.
