Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Stenzel, DC, CVSMT.
Hi Jordan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m Dr. Jordan Stenzel and I grew up in a small town of about 200 people, Easton, in southern Minnesota, As a kid, I lived for sports—football, basketball, and track and field. Those early years weren’t just about competition; they were my first lessons in how the body moves, adapts, and recovers.
When I attended the University of Wisconsin‐La Crosse, I continued my athletic journey in track and field. An untimely injury threatened my try out meet to make the team. I experienced an unexpected low back lifting injury. I knew I needed to get back quickly, and this is when I had my first visit to a Chiropractic Physician – which changed everything. Within a week, I was back on my feet, healed without the usual pain meds that I would normally take. That experience changed the way I saw the body and its ability to heal itself, and I knew then that my future as a career changed.
In the fall of 2011 I enrolled to become a Chiropractic Physician at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. I later graduated in 2015. Fresh out of school I felt a strong entrepreneurial urge: I bought into an existing practice, opened a second location, and even completed a neurology‑focused course in animal chiropractic. Yet, over the years of practice, watching friends and family wrestle with seemingly untreatable conditions—peripheral neuropathy, dementia, infertility—made me ask, “How can I use my knowledge and the latest techniques to truly change outcomes?”
That question launched a research journey in 2019. After countless hours of study and hands‑on clinical work, I identified surprising commonalities across many chronic illnesses. With the newly gained knowledge, I had the opportunity to use my entrepreneurial spirit and came up with innovative repeatable, evidence‑based protocols for treating neuro degenerative diseases, like Peripheral Neuropathy and created a professional‑level course so other clinicians could apply them.
Today, I share the different roadmaps with patients and practitioners alike. My goal is simple: give patients the insight, confidence and solutions to discuss symptoms with providers, stay informed, and reclaim the quality of life they deserve. We love helping people find solutions for both simple, and complex cases.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With every business or idea there are always struggles. With every struggle there is wisdom learned. In this case, I was given the opportunity to learn a lot about my patients and how the body works (better than before).
After about 8 years in practice, I decided to start my own Practice – Stenzel Chiropractic Clinic. The first struggle wasn’t whether i could help my patients, but rather ensuring that I could pay my bills so my motivations and goals could turn into a reality. Within two years of going on my own, I was able to grow the practice to multiple locations. Thank goodness for my awesome staff who was willing to go on this journey with me. I was able to financially sustain my research while also continuing business growth.
Another struggle was, no matter what outside courses I would take, I didn’t seem to get enough direct information on how to effectively and repeatedly make change for patients with – more specifically – Peripheral Neuropathy. So I had the opportunity to self teach myself a lot more in-depth science than I ever learned in a conference or in my schooling. The experience showed how much I actually didn’t know on these topics I was passionate about.
Once I felt I understood the Neurology, Biochemistry, and disease processes, I started to apply different interventions and protocols. I learned really fast what worked, what didn’t, which ultimately helped me learn limitations and strengths of different interventions. These obstacles helped me turn health protocols into repeatable successful outcomes for patients!
The obstacles were not failures, but rather learning points for better protocols, interventions and patient outcomes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Chiropractic Physician. Over the last 10 years I have primarily built my practice working with athletes of all levels. We work really hard in helping patients achieve their goals of prevention, performance and pain management. We achieve these patient goals by applying the simple general concept of removing muscular and joint dysfunction, create stability, and then strengthen for success. We are able to attack these concepts with some of the latest research based Rehabilitative and Chiropractic Interventions.
As stated before, my personal motivations are somewhat different than my current business model and always changing. As my business has grown into what it is, I began treating patients with Neurodegenerative diseases like, Peripheral Neuropathy. This has become my passion as I have had friends and families that experienced these diseases without long term outcomes that allow for a hopeful short and long term outcomes.
More recently, After I put a professional level course together – on how to treat peripheral neuropathy – I used that same information to write a book for those who may be struggling with symptoms from Peripheral Neuropathy. The book is called “Healing the Hidden Nerves”. I wanted patients to be armed with simplified concepts that will help them navigate the diseases associated with Neuropathy, make informed decisions with their providers, and let them know there is hope for their nerves!
Another avenue we are exploring, we have partnered with a local dentist to help with the biomechanics of the jaw to help those who struggle with jaw pain, chronic headaches and airway shortfalls that contribute to several issues that can lead to disease.
I have always enjoyed the idea of trying to figure out solutions to these different types of problems outside of the traditional medical model. The body wants to heal, so why not use this concept to our advantage?
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of the major risks a person can take is large Financial Risk. I had played the debt game, and it was incredibly stressful. When I went on my own journey, I vowed to never to take out a loan for my business again. That meant my risk was my time in the now, and not my future labor.
What I mean by reducing my risk in the future is, I am no longer owing someone else interest from a personally guaranteed loan I may have used to run my business. If I were to fail, I would still need to owe someone a percentage of my labor in the future. The more I owe someone else, the less resources I have to move for an innovative future.
If the market does not accept what I am doing, then I can shut the doors and I don’t owe anybody anything.
When it comes to risk for my business, because I don’t owe anybody anything, I can test the market with new ideas. I set a budget, and if it doesn’t succeed, I am only out my time and I can learn from the process. My biggest risk is my budget.
