Hidden Gems: Meet Marquise Moore of Christian Brothers Automotive

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquise Moore.

Hi Marquise, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My path to business ownership didn’t start in an office or a shop. It started in service. I served as a United States soldier and later as a state trooper, experiences that shaped my values around discipline, integrity, and accountability. Those years taught me how to lead under pressure and how much trust matters when people depend on you.

After leaving law enforcement, I transitioned into the automotive industry and quickly found my stride in operations and leadership. I was part of building a shop from the ground up, helping grow it into a multimillion-dollar business within just a few years. What mattered most to me wasn’t just growth, but building strong teams, clear systems, and a culture where people felt respected and empowered.

That journey ultimately led me to Christian Brothers Automotive, a brand whose commitment to people-first service aligned with how I believe business should be done. I moved from service manager to franchise owner and operator in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Today, my focus is on delivering world-class service to our community while creating meaningful opportunities for the team inside the shop.

Looking back, my story is less about a single moment and more about steady progression. Each chapter, from military service to law enforcement to business ownership, reinforced the same lesson: leadership is about serving others well and doing the right thing consistently.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was not easy at all. For a long time, I fully expected to spend my career in law enforcement. My ultimate goal was to become a Chief of Police one day. That plan changed when I became a father, and then a single father, to a six-month-old baby girl. While I loved law enforcement, the unpredictability of the schedule and the unknowns that came with the job made it difficult to continue down that path while being the parent I needed to be.

My career since then has included plenty of challenges, including lessons learned from my own mistakes. Those experiences forced growth and accountability, and they shaped how I approach leadership today.

Joining Christian Brothers Automotive felt like a breath of fresh air, but it wasn’t without its own challenges. Opportunity didn’t come by accident. I didn’t stumble into ownership, and I didn’t have a pile of money waiting on the sidelines. It required consistent effort, discipline, and a willingness to be developed. I was selected to go through the Christian Brothers Future Franchise Leadership Academy, which helped prepare me for ownership and reinforced the standards expected at the next level.

Even the opportunity in Inver Grove Heights came with obstacles. Relocating from Nashville to the Twin Cities required personal and professional sacrifices, but it also marked a defining step forward. Looking back, every challenge along the way reinforced the same lesson: growth rarely comes from comfort, and meaningful opportunities are earned through preparation, resilience, and hard work.

We’ve been impressed with Christian Brothers Automotive , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Christian Brothers Automotive Inver Grove Heights is a full-service automotive repair and maintenance shop, but at our core, we are a people-first organization. What guides everything we do is The Nice Difference, which we define simply as loving our neighbors as ourselves. That belief shapes how we treat our guests, our team, and our community every single day.

We provide complete automotive care, from routine maintenance to advanced diagnostics and repairs, all performed by highly trained, ASE-certified technicians. We are known for transparency and clear communication. Every vehicle receives a detailed digital inspection with photos and explanations, allowing our guests to make informed decisions without pressure or confusion.

What truly sets us apart is how we show up for people. Loving our neighbors means being honest, respectful, and fair, even when it’s not the easiest path. It means educating instead of selling, taking the time to explain what a vehicle needs and why, and creating an experience that removes stress from what is often an overwhelming situation.

We stand behind our work with an industry-leading three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, whichever comes last or benefits our guests the most. That commitment to service and accountability has also been recognized nationally. Christian Brothers Automotive has been named #1 in Customer Satisfaction by J.D. Power for six consecutive years, a reflection of the trust our guests place in our brand and our people.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built locally. People don’t just come to us because we fix cars, they come back because they feel genuinely cared for. Our shop is clean, welcoming, and intentionally designed to reflect that care, from complimentary Wi-Fi and snacks to courtesy shuttle service.

What I want readers to know is that we’re not just in the automotive business. We’re in the people business. Every repair, every conversation, and every decision is guided by the same principle: love your neighbor, serve them well, and do the right thing consistently.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories was riding bikes around the neighborhood with my friends until the streetlights came on. We were outside all day, no phones, no schedules, just freedom and laughter. Everyone knew everyone, and there was a real sense of community.

I grew up in Brighton, Alabama. It wasn’t easy, but it shaped me. Growing up there taught me resilience, humility, and the importance of family and looking out for one another. Between riding bikes with friends and gathering for Sunday dinner after church, those early years gave me a strong foundation built on community, consistency, and shared values.

Looking back, those simple moments and tough lessons still influence how I show up for people today.
