Hidden Gems: Meet Erica Krynski of Erica’s Bare Necessities

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Krynski.

Hi Erica, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Once I graduated from High school I always had an interest in the beauty and hair industry, I grew up in the salon atmosphere as my mom worked in the industry for many years, she would always be my “model” when I was young, she would let me style her hair in all sorts of different crazy updos, I would always love to do her make up and nails and just experiment with what I could do next! I’m so thankful for her and giving me those endless opportunities to grow a passion for the industry even at such a young age! I did go to school and received my cosmetology license, from there I immediately got a job at a salon as a hair stylist. It didn’t take me long to come to a realization that I actually didn’t enjoy doing hair as much as I thought I did, it caused me a lot of anxiety and stress even once I would leave work I was always thinking “could I have done that better” or “what if they didn’t like what I did?” It began to lose the fun of it all and become something I dreaded doing. As a cosmetologist you are able to do hair, skin, and nails so I knew I wanted to try something different under my license before I completely just gave it all up. Thankfully that’s when I started my job as a wax specialist for a full body waxing company, I was able to learn and grow there and master my techniques and build a confidence within myself that I was truly missing from my last job. I eventually got married to my husband Alex while working there and not to long after that we got pregnant with our best gift of all, or son Kyler. Once I really thought about my work schedule and how much I was working and doing overtime I talked to my husband about different options so I had more time to be able to be home with our son. Before he was born we talked over the option of going out on my own and opening my own business where I would be able to still do the job I loved while also being able to create my own hours and my own time off which is the best of both worlds when it comes to a work life balance! It helped that I also had my best friend who also opened her own business in the industry to talk me through how to even begin the process and to actually take the leap of faith. Once I decided for sure that was my next move in life I was nervous and excited all at the same time, it truly is a leap of faith when you decide to go out on your own and trust that the work you do is good enough to support yourself and your family. Luckily I have the most AMAZING clients who support me and keep me busy. As of now I have been open for 3+ years, going on 4 in September 2026, and I couldn’t be happier with how it is all going. I feel extremely grateful and blessed to be able to do the job I love and yap with my clients all day and then also be able to have the time off I want with my family. I couldn’t ask for anything more!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With any new journey in your life there will always be some challenges you will overcome. I think for my journey into creating my own business it was as smooth as I could hope for, there were a couple times I had picked up and moved my business to a new area or a new suite that better fit my vision and what I wanted for myself and the business. I started out in Eagan which was a little farther of a drive than I ever really wanted, but I always knew I wanted to be closer to home someday. After about 10 months in Eagan I decided to move my business to Apple Valley. That may not sound like a big deal but when it comes to your clientele you can have people driving a long ways to see you and with a just a little move like that it can make their travel even longer. So it’s always a little risk when it comes to moving locations. Luckily majority of my clients choose to follow me there and continue supporting me! After that I felt the suite I was working out of was just a little to small for my liking so I decided to move down the hall and get a larger suite where me and my clients could feel more comfortable moving around the suite and not feel so crowded in the old one! I feel very lucky that with these moves I have had clients who still choose to follow me and support my small business, it means the world!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Erica’s Bare Necessities is a full body waxing business. I specialize in full body waxing, including Brazilian waxing. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I have taken the time to create a space in which my clients feel safe, heard, and comfortable. My priority is to make sure every client who comes through my doors leaves feeling amazing in their BARE skin. I give myself enough time with every single client to ensure I can walk them through the process, tell them exactly what to expect, give them advice on aftercare and make sure they have a fun and comfortable time! Brand wise I’m most proud of the client comfort status, waxing is vulnerable, I strive for my clients to feel safe, not judged, and respected!

If I could tell anyone out there who hasn’t heard of my business or even just has questions on waxing itself, I would love for them to know that waxing is a game changer when it comes to hair removal. It makes your life easier, giving you one less thing to worry about everyday. It gives you a confidence you may not have had before, feeling more comfortable in your own BARE skin!

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The way people can support my business is simply by word of mouth, having my business being talked about and given out as recommendations for people who are looking for a wax, weather that be their first time or just needing a new place to go! Giving my business a try for your own waxing needs is another way of support!

The way people can collaborate with my business is through social media, I love to post my favorite small businesses out there through my social media as I know many of my clients are always looking for new hair stylists, lash techs, nail techs, etc! I think as a small business it is so important to show your support for all the small businesses around you!
