Hidden Gems: Meet Angela Rantasha of Sota Cleaning Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Rantasha.

Hi Angela , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up with the “clean gene.” I began cleaning houses with my Mom in Glenwood MN many years ago. While we cleaned she would always tell me, “If your client doesn’t feel like a Queen when they come home, you haven’t done your job.” That statement resonated with me and has been the driving force of my business. Your home is your sanctuary from the outside world.

When my husband Mark and I moved to the Alexandria lakes area, cleaning was a natural fit. We started Sota Cleaning Co. in 2018 thinking it would just be the two of us no big plan, just a willingness to work hard and to leave people feeling good in their homes again.

It didn’t take long to realize the need in our community was tremendous. There weren’t enough cleaners to go around. So we made the decision to grow, hiring and training cleaning technicians and building something bigger than just us.

What started with about 30 clients quickly grew to nearly 300 in just five years. Today, we’re an award-winning cleaning service with a full team, a strong reputation in the lakes area, and a storefront boutique featuring the products we actually use every day.

I’ve learned that when you invest in your people, they show up for your clients in a way you can’t teach and that’s what sets us apart.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is owning a small business ever a smooth road?! Growth is messy.

My biggest challenge was trying to hire and train employees, manage schedules, take calls, and do it all while I was still cleaning in the field. There were a lot of moments where I was being pulled in every direction.

But as we grew and built the right team, I was able to start delegating and stepping into a leadership role. And the truth is, they take better care of our clients than I ever could have on my own.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sota Cleaning Co.?
Sota Cleaning Co. is a residential, vacation rental, and light commercial cleaning company serving the Alexandria lakes area. We really specialize in recurring cleaning and deep cleaning, helping people stay on top of their homes instead of constantly trying to catch up.

What sets us apart is our consistency. Anyone can do a good cleaning once, but doing it well every time is what actually matters. We’ve built our reputation on showing up, paying attention to the details, and making the whole experience easy for our clients.

We’re also an award-winning company, and that really comes down to our team. We put a lot of focus into hiring the right people, training them well, and creating an environment where they actually enjoy what they do. When your team cares, it shows.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve been able to grow without losing that local, personal feel. We’re not a big, faceless company. We’re part of the community, and we care about the people we’re working with.

We’ve also added a boutique storefront where people can shop the same products our team uses every day, which has been a fun way to expand and connect with clients in a different way.

At the end of the day, we’re known for being reliable, detailed, and easy to work with. We keep it simple and we do the job right.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is creating something meaningful for my family, my team, and my community. I love that we’re able to meet a real need in the community, while also creating jobs that people can rely on and feel proud of.

It’s important to me that what we’re building has purpose behind it, not just growth for the sake of growth. If we can make people’s lives easier at home and create meaningful employment at the same time, that’s a win.
