Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Taylor.
Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a family physician with a passion for caring for people of all ages. Good primary care requires time to get to know patients, to understand their situations and perspectives. Very often, more good can be accomplished with a conversation, even if it is quicker to prescribe a medication. So, this year, I decided to leave insurance-based medicine and start my own direct primary care practice.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am new at running my own business and advertising; there is a learning curve.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a family doctor with a number of useful skills. I see all ages, newborns on up. I can do a number of office procedures including cyst removals, skin biopsies, vertigo treatment, and tongue tie releases. I mostly do your standard primary care doctor work – preventive care, evaluation of new symptoms and illnesses, chronic disease management.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I am currently reading a book called How Not To Die, which is a lifestyle medicine book written for a general audience. I listen to a number of podcasts for direct primary care doctors.
