Meet Nick Simon of North Metro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Simon.

Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Bats & Beyond Wildlife Services after spending many years working in exterior remodeling, mostly as a roofer of over 20 years. That background gave me a strong understanding of how homes are built, where vulnerable areas exist, and how animals are able to gain access. Over time, I realized there was a real need for a wildlife company that approached bat and nuisance animal issues with both a construction mindset and the highest level of professionalism. Rather than offering temporary fixes, I wanted to build a company focused on solving problems the right way and delivering long-term solutions for homeowners, property managers and multi family communities alike.

As I made the transition into wildlife control, I leaned heavily on the experience I had already built working on homes, especially in difficult-to-access areas where many wildlife issues begin. Bats in particular became a major area of focus because they require a specialized approach, both from a legal and technical standpoint. I saw an opportunity to create a business that stood out by combining exclusion expertise, detailed workmanship, clear communication, and a premium customer experience. From the beginning, I wanted Bats & Beyond to be known not just as another wildlife company, but as a trusted specialist in bat removal, bat-proofing, wildlife exclusion and a more aesthetically appealing approach to the exclusion work itself.

Today, the business has grown into a respected name in the market, backed by a strong reputation, excellent customer reviews, and a commitment to doing things at the highest level. I have worked hard to build a brand that people associate with honesty, responsiveness, and quality workmanship. What got us here has really been a combination of hands-on experience, discipline, and a genuine passion for helping people protect their homes & properties. I am proud of how far the company has come, and even more excited about where it is headed next!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been completely smooth, but overall the challenges have been manageable and have helped shape how I run the business today. The biggest pressure tends to come during peak bat season, when activity spikes and the volume of calls, inspections, and projects can increase very quickly. There are times when it feels like everything is happening at once, and managing that level of demand while maintaining a high standard of service can definitely be stressful.

That said, I’ve found that I tend to operate best in those high-demand environments. I actually enjoy the pace and the challenge of having a full schedule and a lot on my plate. It pushes me to stay organized, communicate clearly, and continue refining systems so that nothing slips through the cracks. Those busy stretches have been some of the most important learning periods for me as a business owner.

If anything, those moments have reinforced what I enjoy most about this work. I like being relied on, solving problems quickly, and delivering results when it matters most to customers. So while there are certainly stressful times, especially during the height of the season, they’re also what drive growth and keep the business moving forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Bats & Beyond Wildlife Services, we specialize in bat removal and full-structure wildlife exclusion, with a strong focus on permanent, long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. Every home or building we work on is different—different rooflines, siding materials, architectural details, and entry points—so no two jobs are ever exactly the same. While construction methods may be similar across homes, the small differences are what matter most when it comes to identifying how wildlife is getting in and how to properly keep them out. That’s where both experience and attention to detail really come into play.

The creative side of this work is something I take a lot of pride in. Every project requires problem-solving and a customized approach to ensure the solution is not only effective, but also visually clean and well-integrated with the home. Rather than relying on quick fixes like exposed screening or foam, we focus on making repairs and modifications that blend in seamlessly with the existing structure. In many cases, we’re not just sealing entry points—we’re restoring and improving the integrity of the home in a way that looks intentional and professionally finished.

What sets us apart is that combination of craftsmanship, technical knowledge, and pride in the final product. We approach wildlife exclusion more like a specialized trade than a basic service, and that mindset carries through in everything we do. I’m most proud of the reputation we’ve built by consistently delivering high-quality work that homeowners can feel confident in—not just from a functional standpoint, but from an aesthetic one as well. It’s about solving the problem the right way, and leaving the home better than we found it.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
One of the most important qualities behind my success—and the foundation of how I run the business—is honesty. From the very first inspection, we make it a priority to give homeowners a clear, straightforward understanding of what’s actually going on, what needs to be addressed, and just as importantly, what doesn’t. That level of transparency builds trust right away and sets the tone for the entire project.

In this industry, it’s not uncommon to see unnecessary upselling or recommendations that go beyond what’s truly needed. That’s something we’ve made a conscious decision to avoid. Our focus is on providing the right solution for the specific problem—nothing more, nothing less. By staying disciplined in that approach, we’re able to deliver results that are both effective and fair for the homeowner.

Over time, that commitment to honesty has become one of the biggest drivers of our growth. It leads to better relationships, stronger referrals, and a reputation that people can rely on. At the end of the day, doing the right thing for the customer isn’t just good ethics—it’s good business.

Pricing:

  • For an average home, most of our bat exclusion projects typically range between $1,500 and $2,500. Each project is a two-trip process, which includes installing one-way exclusion devices that allow the bats to safely exit, followed by a return visit to remove those devices and complete the final sealing. Pricing can vary depending on several factors, including the size of the home, roof pitch and complexity, number of entry points, and overall accessibility. Travel distance from our service area can also play a role in the final cost. In some cases, projects may be higher if attic remediation or cleanup services are needed. When bats have been present for a period of time, they can leave behind guano, which may require proper removal and treatment to address potential health concerns, including exposure to zoonotic diseases. Every project is unique, but our focus is always on delivering a long-term, permanent solution rather than a temporary fix.
