Inspiring Conversations with Libby Rothschild of Rothschild Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Libby Rothschild.

Hi Libby, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Early in my career, I noticed that most people didn’t struggle because they didn’t know what to do. They struggled because the advice they were given didn’t fit their actual lives.

Before becoming a dietitian, I spent years in the fitness and training space, so I was able to see both sides. People weren’t just dealing with information gaps. They were dealing with time, energy, family responsibilities, and routines that didn’t match what they were being told to do.

I went on to complete a master’s in clinical nutrition and worked in clinical settings, where I gained experience supporting patients with both weight management and medical conditions. That gave me a strong foundation in how nutrition impacts health, but I still saw the same gap when it came to implementation.

Over time, I became more interested in helping people apply nutrition in a way that actually works day to day. Not perfect plans, but decisions they can follow through on consistently.

That led me to build my own practice, where I focus on helping clients think clearly about food so they can lose weight, improve their health, and feel more in control of their routines. Many of the people I work with are balancing busy schedules and families, so the approach has to be practical and repeatable.

Today, I continue to grow my practice with that same focus. Instead of giving more information, I help clients build simple systems and defaults that hold up in real life, so progress feels steady instead of overwhelming.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building a practice that works in real life, not just in theory.

As things grew, I had to figure out how to manage different ways of working, including in person and virtual care, and how to structure my time across locations in a way that was actually sustainable. There is a real demand for both, but they do not run the same way, so building systems that support each has been a learning process.

I also had to decide where to focus my time. There are a lot of directions you can go in this field, including workshops, consulting, and group work. I chose to double down on one on one client care, because that is where I can have the most impact and build something consistent.

Early on, I had to unlearn the idea that being helpful meant giving more. I would explain more, offer more options, and try to cover everything in one session. Over time, I realized that clarity and restraint are much more effective. Clients do not need more information. They need a way to make decisions they can follow through on consistently.

Another challenge has been designing my work around real life constraints, both mine and my clients. Most people I work with are balancing busy schedules, families, and limited time, so the goal is not just what works on paper. It is what actually holds up day to day.

Those challenges have shaped how I operate now. I focus on building simple systems, both in my practice and for my clients, that are clear, repeatable, and sustainable.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rothschild Nutrition?
Rothschild Nutrition is a nutrition counseling practice focused on helping clients think clearly about food so they can lose weight and manage their health in a way that actually fits their lives.

I work with adults who are often balancing careers, families, and multiple responsibilities, and who feel stuck trying to follow plans that are too rigid or unrealistic. Instead of giving more information or overly detailed plans, I focus on helping clients build simple, repeatable systems around meals, habits, and decision-making.

What sets my practice apart is the emphasis on clarity and application. Many clients come in having tried multiple approaches or feeling overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice. My goal is to simplify that. We focus on a few key decisions that drive results and build from there, rather than trying to change everything at once.

My background spans both clinical nutrition and the fitness space, which allows me to support clients with weight management as well as medical conditions, while still keeping the approach practical. I’ve found that the biggest barrier for most people is not knowing what to do, but being able to follow through consistently, especially under real-life constraints.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building a practice that prioritizes sustainability over perfection. The goal is not short-term change, but helping clients develop habits and decision-making frameworks they can rely on long-term.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite memories is from when I was in high school and had the opportunity to leave school early for a work experience program at a local bank. I ended up doing well in a sales role, which was unexpected at the time, and I remember one of the senior mentors taking me seriously in a way I hadn’t experienced before.

He wrote a recommendation letter for me that was much stronger than I expected, and it was one of the first moments where I realized I was capable of more than I had been thinking. That experience gave me a level of confidence that stayed with me and shaped a lot of the decisions I made after that.
