Today we’d like to introduce you to Charissa Wall.
Hi Charissa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been baking and gardening ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved being in the kitchen, growing flowers and vegetables. I would help my mom in the kitchen and help my dad in the garden. As I got older and started having children I discovered my love for coffee as well. My little business has grown out of those loves, I am passionate about using whole foods and organic ingredients in my baking and using only specialty grade high elevation grown beans when roasting coffee. I am also passionate about creating beauty which brought me into growing cut flowers. Last year I really felt the Lord nudging me to take a leap of faith and start sharing these passions with my community more. I sold all my baked goods, coffee, and floral arrangements at the local farmers market, which was really fun for the whole family. Jumping ahead to this spring, my husband and I have been blessed to find a beautiful farmstead in Northern, MN where we will be opening a U-pick flower farm and vegetable garden, that will also offer baked goods and fresh roasted coffee beans. We’re so excited to be able to bring our children along side of us and love on our community even more.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a new endeavor never seems to go according to plan. I struggle a lot with letting go of control but, God has been very gracious to me and has helped me grown through all of the stress, anxiety, and growing pains of a new business.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in home baked breads and treats where I use as many organic ingredients as possible, never use seed oils or artificial/highly processed sweeteners.
I offer fresh roasted organic specialty grade coffee beans that have been grown at high elevations, I roast to a light to medium roast to ensure the best origin flavors without bitterness.
I grow cut flowers in my backyard plus now I’m expanding into a small cut flower farm. I try to focus on sustainable growing practices that help ensure soil health and encourage pollinators.
