Meet Ashley Easley of St. Cloud

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Easley.

Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey started from a place of loss, purpose, and a deep passion for helping others. I lost my father when I was 13 years old and my mother when I was 25. Those experiences shaped me in many ways, but they also helped me discover my calling in life. My mother was someone who constantly helped people in our community, and she taught me the importance of compassion, service, and showing up for others even during difficult times.

As I navigated my own challenges in young adulthood, I realized there were so many people especially young adults, who needed support, guidance, and someone who genuinely cared. That realization inspired me to start Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP. I wanted to create a safe and supportive space where people could receive encouragement, resources, mentorship, and life skills to help them move forward. Through mentorship, education, community outreach, and hands on support, we continue working to empower people to discover their purpose and build stable, successful futures.

Alongside leading the nonprofit, I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, became a small business owner, and now work as a community navigator helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Every step of my journey has reinforced that my purpose is to serve others, inspire hope, and create opportunities for people who may feel overlooked or unsupported.

Today, I’m proud of how far Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP has come, but this is only the beginning. My vision is to continue expanding our impact, reach more communities, and help people understand that their past does not define their future.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Building Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP came with many challenges, especially in the beginning. One of the biggest struggles was starting with very limited resources and trying to balance my personal responsibilities while still showing up for the community. There were times when funding was low, support was limited, and I questioned whether I was doing enough or making the impact I hoped for.

Another challenge was gaining visibility, securing consistent funding, building partnerships, and educating people about the importance of the work we do. Sometimes people only see the success or the programs, but they do not always see the long hours, sacrifices, and persistence it takes behind the scenes to keep an organization running.

I’ve also had to learn how to grow as a leader, ask for help, and stay resilient even when things did not go as planned. Despite the obstacles, every challenge taught me something valuable and strengthened my passion for serving others. Those difficult moments helped shape both me and Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP into what we are today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP, where our mission is to empower youth, young adults, women, and families through mentorship, education, life skills, advocacy, and community support. My work focuses on helping individuals overcome challenges, discover their purpose, and gain access to resources that can help them build better futures.

I specialize in community outreach, mentorship, youth development, and supporting underserved populations. Through programs like the Young Adult Program, we provide guidance, emotional support, education, and practical tools that help individuals grow personally and professionally. In addition to leading Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP, I also work as a Designated Manager with Brenda’s Place, where I support individuals with developmental disabilities by helping them build independent living skills and improve their quality of life. This work has strengthened my passion for advocacy, patience, and providing compassionate care to those who need additional support and encouragement.

I also serve as a board member of the Morning Optimist Club, where I collaborate with others who are passionate about uplifting the community and supporting youth through service projects and leadership initiatives. Alongside my nonprofit and community work, I serve as a community navigator helping aspiring and current entrepreneurs with business planning, marketing, operations, and administrative support. As a small business owner myself, I understand the challenges people face when trying to build something from the ground up, and I enjoy helping others navigate that journey.

What I am most proud of is the impact I have made in people’s lives. Whether it is mentoring a young person, helping someone access resources during a difficult time, supporting a mother in need, or encouraging someone to believe in themselves again, those moments mean the most to me. I am proud that people feel safe, seen, and supported through the work we do.

What sets me apart is my genuine passion for helping people and the fact that my work comes from lived experience. I understand hardship, loss, and adversity personally, which allows me to connect with people on a deeper level with compassion and authenticity. I lead with heart, purpose, and a commitment to serving others, and I believe that real impact starts with building meaningful relationships within the community.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is living a life that I do not have to vacation from, a life filled with purpose, peace, fulfillment, and meaningful impact. I want the work I do and the life I live to align with who I truly am and the values I carry every day. For me, success is not just about personal achievements, it is about creating a life that positively impacts others and brings genuine happiness and purpose.

Another thing that matters deeply to me is being the change I want to see in the world. I believe that real change starts with how we treat people, how we show up for our communities, and how willing we are to help others even when it is not easy. Through my work with Brenda’s Helping Hands NFP and my everyday interactions, I strive to inspire, encourage, and uplift others so they can see their value and potential.

Helping people is at the core of who I am. My parents instilled strong values, compassion, resilience, and the importance of caring for others in me from a young age. Even after losing them, I continue to carry the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding they gave me throughout my journey. Everything I do is rooted in making them proud and honoring the legacy they left behind.

Most importantly, I want every person I come into contact with to leave feeling like there is something special inside of them. I want people to feel seen, valued, capable, and inspired to keep going no matter what obstacles they face. Sometimes all a person needs is encouragement, support, or someone to believe in them, and I want to be that person whenever I can.
