Inspiring Conversations with Tasha Eriksen of The Esthetician LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Eriksen.

Hi Tasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My interest in esthetics started when I was a teenager struggling with acne. I know firsthand how much your skin can affect your confidence and how you feel about yourself, and that experience is what first drew me into this industry.

Over the years, I’ve worked in salons and spas, and I also had the opportunity to work as an educator for a skincare and waxing manufacturer. Those experiences helped shape me not only as a service provider, but also as someone who values education, trust, and helping clients understand their skin.

When COVID hit in 2020, I had a lot of time to reflect on my life and career. I found myself asking what I really wanted to build and what kind of impact I wanted to make. That season pushed me to take a leap and start my own business. I began by renting in a salon suite-style setting, and one year later, I built out my current location in Apple Valley.

Today, I specialize in acne and skin health, but more than anything, I’m proud to have created a space where clients feel supported, educated, and cared for. My own experience with acne still shapes the way I show up for my clients, and it reminds me that skincare is often about so much more than skin.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a perfectly smooth road, but I think that is true for most small business owners. Starting a business during such an uncertain time came with a lot of risk, learning, and figuring things out as I went. Going from working for others to building something of my own required me to trust myself, make difficult decisions, and keep moving even when I did not have every answer.

One of the biggest challenges has simply been learning all the pieces that come with owning a business — not just providing services, but managing the brand, the client experience, the space, the finances, the marketing, and the responsibility that comes with being the person behind it all.

More recently, my business has also been navigating a flood and temporary displacement from my space. That has been incredibly difficult, both personally and professionally, because so much care and intention went into building that environment for my clients. But it has also reminded me how resilient I am and how loyal and supportive my clients have been.

The challenges have taught me to adapt, advocate for my business, and keep showing up. I think the hard seasons have made me a better business owner and a more compassionate provider.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Esthetician LLC is a professional skincare and esthetics studio located in Apple Valley. I specialize in acne and overall skin health, but my work is really about helping people feel more confident, supported, and comfortable in their own skin.

I offer customized facials, acne-focused treatments, advanced skin therapies, lash lifts, brow services, waxing, and body treatments. While acne is one of my main specialties, I also work with clients who are focused on aging concerns, texture, sensitivity, maintenance, and simply taking time to care for themselves.

What sets The Esthetician LLC apart is the level of intention, education, and personalized care behind each service. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all skincare. Every client’s skin, lifestyle, concerns, and goals are different, so I take time to look at the full picture and create a treatment approach that makes sense for them.

I’m most proud of building a brand that feels professional, honest, and welcoming. I want clients to feel like they can come in exactly as they are — whether they are struggling with acne, feeling discouraged about their skin, or just needing a quiet moment for themselves. My goal is always to educate, support, and care for people without judgment.

At the heart of The Esthetician LLC is a simple mission: to help people feel healthy, confident, and cared for in their own skin.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I do think owning a business requires risk, even if you do not always think of yourself as a risk-taker at first. For me, one of the biggest risks was choosing to go out on my own in 2020. It was an uncertain time for everyone, but it also became a moment of clarity for me. I realized that if I wanted to build something meaningful, I had to be willing to take the first step before everything felt perfectly safe or guaranteed.

Starting in a rented salon suite was a risk, and then building out my own location in Apple Valley one year later was an even bigger one. There were financial risks, emotional risks, and the vulnerability of putting my name, work, and vision out into the world.

My view on risk has changed over time. I do not think risk always means being fearless. I think it means being willing to move forward even when you are scared, as long as the decision is aligned with your values and the life you are trying to build.

Business ownership has taught me that risk and growth often go together. Some seasons are exciting, and some are hard, like currently navigating displacement from a flood in my business space. But every challenge has strengthened my commitment to what I do and reminded me why I started in the first place.
