Exploring Life & Business with Justin Bergman of I.T. North

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Bergman.

Hi Justin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started off in Grand Rapids with my first I.T. Job at Connecting Point. I was 20 years old. I have been in the field ever since in some capacity. Fast forward to recently and I had been doing I.T. for Floe International in McGregor for 5 years. Living in Hibbing I didnt like the commute. And I was looking for more than I could expect to earn in my position, Given that we are a single income family. My brother and I hatched a plan to get me working full time doing I.T. / Managed services. I had been doing it on nights and weekends for 2 years. I had heard alot of grumbling about local options so we decided to give it a run.

I had been hearing that people were over paying and struggling to get help.

We want the Iron Range to thrive. Our small part is to make sure people are getting a fair deal for the money they spend.

So far we have saved everyone money.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Its been about two months since going full time. And its not without its challenges. Being right with the government, taxes, accounting, invoicing, etc. Those are things I never had to think of at any scale before.
But it is clearing up. Most of my clients already knew me from my earlier jobs in I.T.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We do managed services and I.T.
Typically we do a variety of services aimed at supplementing overworked I.T. Departments, and we provide I.T. Services for Companies not large enough to justify having there own I.T. Staff.
We offer Remote Monitoring, Patch Management, Managed Security, Helpdesk, Anti-Virus, Backups, etc.
We have different levels of service plans and offer standard break fix services. You dont have to have a contract to get us through the door.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love my community. I wish the city had more. More industry, more people, more safe things to do.
