Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Zachrison.
Hi Brenda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2012, my kids joined 4-H and we discovered the Carver County Llama Project. My kids showed llamas for the county and state fairs. In 2019, we had the opportunity to buy llamas. We started with 2 for my kids to show in 4-H. I learned that they could be therapy animals and was able to register both llamas as therapy animals which is very rewarding. We love sharing the llamas with people and started taking them to events of all kinds – birthday parties, wedding, community and corporate events, school visits, trail walks, yoga with llamas and more. Today we have 3 registered therapy llamas a an alpaca in training. It has been fun to be apart of so many special occasions.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Unfortunately we lost my daughter’s llama, Zoe, unexpectedly, in 2021 which was devastating. We have her picture in the trailer and have so many fond memories of her. Another struggle has been learning the business side of things especially social media. I know and love the llama side of the business but I am always learning the other pieces. I have also learned how to juggle my regular job and the llama business. Hoping to do less of the regular job and spend more time with the llamas in the future.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Llama Mama MN, and I bring my mobile Llama Squad to events all across the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. We provide llamas and an alpaca for entertainment, education, and therapy. We travel to you for birthday parties, weddings, corporate and community events, school visits, fundraisers, trail walks, llama grams, and more.
We specialize in mobile, interactive llama experiences that combine fun, education, and therapeutic benefits. Our animals are well-trained, registered therapy llamas/alpacas, so we can offer everything from lively party entertainment (llama limbo, photos, meet-and-greets) to calm educational visits and Llama Assisted Therapy. We also do unique things like Llama Grams, yoga with llamas, and trail walks.
We are honored to be voted MN Bride Best Entertainment (non-musical) in 2025 and we are a finalist this year. We have 3 registered therapy llamas that have gone through extensive training and testing and are held to a higher standard than others. I’m most proud of the impact our llamas have on people, especially through therapy and education. Seeing people’s faces light up during school and therapy visits, watching people find comfort during therapy sessions, or helping create lifelong memories at weddings and parties means the world to me. I’m also proud of my 12+ years in 4-H, leading the Llama Project and Therapy Animal Project, and helping other kids and animals become registered therapy teams.
What sets us apart is that our animals are not just cute—they’re highly trained, registered therapy animals with calm temperaments and lots of experience. We focus on responsible animal care, education, and meaningful interactions, not just novelty. Plus, as a women-owned business rooted in 4-H and therapy work, we bring heart, professionalism, and expertise that goes beyond typical petting zoo or animal encounter services. The llamas come well-groomed, dressed for the occasion, and ready to elevate your event to Llamazing!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My current squad includes llamas Graycee, Halcyon, and Callisto, plus alpaca Coca. Each has their own personality—goofy, cool, princess and spirited. They’re all part of a close-knit group that works beautifully together.
Every event has special moments—whether it’s a bride getting emotional seeing the llamas at her wedding, kids learning fun facts at school, or people finding calm during therapy visits. We’ve done everything from brewery visits and yoga sessions to community festivals and nature therapy camps.
The people that we meet create life-long memories for us and we are truly honored to be apart of their special day.
Pricing:
- $400 for the first 2 hrs and $50 for each additional hour is the average price. Pricing depends on a few factors. For therapy visits, we try to work with your budget
