Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanna Cone.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ashley and I first met nearly 10 years ago while working independently alongside one another at a North Shore resort spa. It was there that we discovered not only a shared passion for our work, but also how well we complemented each other professionally. When that chapter unexpectedly came to an end, we each found ourselves navigating a period of uncertainty. Over the years, we worked in various locations, built our own businesses, partnered with other professionals, and continued serving our clients while searching for the right space and opportunity to work together again. While there were moments that felt discouraging, including plans that didn’t come to fruition, we never lost sight of the vision we shared. When the Canal Park space became available, it felt serendipitous. Within days, we knew it was exactly what we had been waiting for. We signed our lease on October 1 and opened our doors on November 1. What followed was a whirlwind of long days and countless hours of painting, renovating, and bringing our vision to life. We saw an opportunity to create something truly unique for the Duluth community…a wellness destination that combined therapeutic care, relaxation, and self-care under one roof. That vision led us to introduce Duluth’s first and only Head Spa experience, allowing us to bring an innovative wellness service to the region while continuing to expand the ways we support our clients’ well-being. Ashley and I are passionate about helping people and genuinely love the work we do. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone leave feeling relaxed, refreshed, and truly cared for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many women, we balance the roles of business owners, mothers, partners, and caregivers, and finding that balance has often been one of our greatest challenges. Building this business has required an incredible investment of time, energy, resources, and faith. We’ve poured countless hours of physical labor, tears, and hard-earned dollars into creating a space we’re proud of. The work we do is deeply rewarding, but it is also physically and emotionally demanding. While Ashley and I carry much of that responsibility, our loved ones make sacrifices too. Behind every long workday is a family supporting us and believing in what we’re creating.
Despite the challenges, we wouldn’t trade it. We feel incredibly fortunate to do work we genuinely love and to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day. The support of our families, clients, and community has made this journey possible, and for that we are deeply grateful. Looking back, all of the uncertainty, setbacks, and perseverance make this chapter even more meaningful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What we offer goes far beyond a traditional massage, it’s a personalized therapeutic experience. Ashley and I are deeply passionate about our work, and that passion guides every session we provide. We believe that no two bodies are the same, which is why we take the time to listen, assess, and tailor each treatment to the individual rather than following a routine approach.
Our work is rooted in Myofascial Therapy, a technique that uses slow, intentional methods to release restrictions within the fascia, improve movement, and support the body’s natural healing process. Drawing on years of experience, skill, and intuition, we adapt these techniques to address each client’s unique needs. This approach can be especially beneficial for chronic tension, postural imbalances, scar tissue, and long-standing areas of discomfort.
The result is an experience that many clients say feels unlike any massage they’ve had before. We believe that comes from the combination of therapeutic expertise, personalized care, and genuine connection we bring to every session. Seeing clients return year after year is both humbling and rewarding, and it serves as a meaningful reminder of why we love what we do.
