Hidden Gems: Meet Cindy Merriam of Reflections with Cindy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Merriam.

Hi Cindy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into healing work has been anything but traditional.

I grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, and have always been drawn to helping others. For many years, I focused on family, supporting my husband through law school and helping raise my son, who has special needs. Along the way, I experienced many of the same challenges my clients face today—stress, caregiving, major life transitions, grief, and the search for deeper meaning and balance.

Healing and intuition have always been part of my family’s story. My Great Aunt Mary was a gifted card reader who used a standard deck of 52 playing cards and was well known throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. She would probably get a chuckle knowing I followed a similar path. I never let her read for me, something I still regret.

What started as a personal journey quickly became a calling. I became a Reiki Master, pursued advanced training in reflexology, and continued expanding my knowledge through ongoing education in wellness and energy healing.

One experience that continues to inspire me involved a woman who was a Purple Heart recipient and a 20-year Iraq veteran. She shared stories of service, sacrifice, and the challenges of navigating life after the military. Being trusted with her healing journey was a powerful reminder of why I do this work.

Today, I own Reflections with Cindy, where I offer reflexology, Reiki, oracle card readings, and educational workshops designed to help people reduce stress, trust themselves, and reconnect with their own inner wisdom.

My mission is simple: to create a welcoming space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal. I believe healing is not about fixing people—it’s about helping them remember their own strength and creating a life that feels meaningful and aligned.

Every client who walks through my door has a story, and it is an honor to be part of their journey.

You can find me at Divine Lights in Anoka, Minnesota, and at wellness expos throughout the Twin Cities area.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been times when I questioned myself, struggled with low attendance at classes or events, and wondered if I was on the right path.

One of the more difficult challenges has been pursuing a path that wasn’t always fully understood or supported by those closest to me. Building a business in the holistic wellness space can feel lonely at times, especially when the people you love don’t always see your vision.

Through every challenge, I’ve learned to trust my intuition, stay connected to my purpose, and celebrate the small victories. The people I’ve met and the stories they’ve shared remind me why I do this work. Those experiences have made me not only a stronger business owner, but also a more compassionate practitioner.

We’ve been impressed with Reflections with Cindy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here’s an updated version that includes your specialties and your commitment to following up with clients:

At Reflections with Cindy, my mission is simple: to help people slow down, reconnect with themselves, and support their body’s natural ability to heal.

I offer reflexology for the feet, hands, face, and ears, along with Reiki, oracle card readings, and educational workshops focused on holistic wellness and spiritual growth. I specialize in helping clients reduce stress, improve relaxation, support better sleep, and restore balance to the nervous system.

What sets my practice apart is the combination of practical healing techniques and intuitive guidance. Every session is personalized because I believe no two people are the same. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered.

I believe healing is a journey, not a one-time experience. That’s why I make it a priority to follow up with clients after their sessions, checking in on their progress, answering questions, and offering continued support along the way.

I’m especially proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the trust they place in me. Many people come in seeking relief from physical discomfort and leave feeling calmer, more connected, and better equipped to move forward in their lives.

As a Reiki Master and lifelong student of holistic healing, I continue to expand my education so I can offer the best possible experience. Whether someone is new to energy work or has been on a spiritual path for years, they are welcome exactly as they are.

You can find me at Divine Lights in Anoka, Minnesota, as well as at wellness expos and community events throughout the region. I want readers to know that healing doesn’t have to be complicated—it often begins with taking a moment to care for yourself.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Anoka is its sense of community. Even though it’s part of the metro area, it still has a small-town feel where people genuinely support one another and local businesses. There are so many passionate entrepreneurs, wellness practitioners, artists, and community organizations working to make a difference. I also love the historic downtown, local events, and the way people come together to celebrate traditions.

If you lived in Minnesota long enough you know the long winters can test anyone’s patience.
