Chuck, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
No one builds something meaningful alone, and I’m incredibly grateful for the people who have encouraged me along the way.
First and foremost, my wife, Faith, has been my biggest supporter. She’s believed in me through every season, celebrated the victories, and stood beside me through the challenges. Having someone who continually encourages you to keep pursuing your dreams is a gift I never take for granted.
One person who has made an especially meaningful impact on my journey is my mentor, Rebekah. She’s one of my favorite people in the world and has been a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and honest feedback. She has a way of seeing potential in people and reminding them to keep moving forward, even when the road gets difficult. Her support has been invaluable, and I’m incredibly thankful for the role she’s played in both my personal and creative growth.
I’m also thankful for my family, who have supported my creative journey over the years. Their encouragement has reminded me that what I’m building matters, even during the times when progress felt slow.
I’ve also been blessed by the photography and creative communities. Whether it’s fellow photographers sharing advice, musicians offering encouragement, or people simply taking the time to appreciate my work, every conversation has helped me grow. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t trade the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
Living with legal blindness has meant constantly finding creative ways to adapt in a field that’s so visually driven. I’ve also lived with epilepsy for most of my life, and there have been seasons where anxiety and other personal challenges made it difficult to keep moving forward. There have been moments when I questioned whether I could continue pursuing my creative goals, especially when progress felt slow or obstacles seemed to keep piling up.
Like many creatives, I’ve also faced the challenge of building something from the ground up. Growing a brand, putting your work out into the world, and learning to believe in your own voice takes persistence. Success rarely happens overnight, and there have been plenty of setbacks that tested my patience and determination.
What has kept me going is my faith, the support of my family, and a belief that our circumstances don’t have to define our future. Every challenge has shaped the way I approach both photography and music, giving me a deeper appreciation for perseverance and purpose. Looking back, I realize those struggles weren’t just obstacles—they became part of the story I’m now able to share with others.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that limitations don’t have to stop you from pursuing what you’re called to do. Sometimes they become the very thing that gives your work its unique perspective.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of CGR Creative, where I combine photography, music, and storytelling to create work that’s both visually compelling and deeply personal. While photography is at the heart of what I do, I’m also a lyricist and music creator, so creativity has become the thread that connects everything I produce.
As a photographer, I enjoy capturing authentic moments, landscapes, nature, and the beauty that’s often overlooked. Because I’m legally blind, people are sometimes surprised that photography is my passion. In many ways, that’s what has shaped my perspective the most. My tagline, “Sight Is Not The Same As Vision,” isn’t just a slogan—it’s the philosophy behind my work. It reminds people that vision is about perspective, creativity, and seeing possibilities beyond limitations.
What I’m most proud of isn’t any single photograph or song. It’s proving to myself—and hopefully to others—that challenges don’t have to determine what’s possible. Every image I capture and every song I release is a reminder that perseverance can produce something meaningful.
I think what sets me apart is the perspective I bring. I don’t create simply to make something that looks or sounds good. I want my work to tell a story, inspire hope, and encourage people to look beyond what’s immediately in front of them. If someone walks away from my work feeling inspired or seeing the world a little differently, then I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.
