Meet Carla Drumbeater of St Louis Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Drumbeater.

Hi Carla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I worked through the pandemic as a respiratory therapist with insulin dependent diabetes. I witnessed people with chronic diseases like mine get sick and die of complications from COVID. It was terrifying and I was required to work at the head of the bed as respiratory therapists maintained the ventilators and airway. I found out that yoga was the only thing that made me feel good. I saw an opportunity on Facebook from Native Strength Revolution. They offered a scholarship for yoga teacher training if you were wanting to teach in indigenous communities. I needed something to keep my mind and body strong while working in the ICU. Yoga started to heal me. My health improved. I lost weight and became more flexible. I gained confidence I never knew I had. I trained and ran the NYC marathon to raise money for Native Strength Revolution. I marathon training boosted my weight-loss. I have lost a total of 70lbs. I was able to get off insulin and decreased my blood pressure medicine and allergy meds. As I started to heal, I received the gift of crystal healing and Reiki. I meditated and studied a crystal everyday during the pandemic. Recently, I studied Thai Bodywork through Devanadi yoga in Minneapolis and in Thailand. I have learned multiple healing modalities to customize my treatments to my clients comfort.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
