Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Hennes.
Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in healthcare since I graduated high school 20 years ago. I started on an ambulance and found my way to a doctoral degree in Chiropractic. In Chiropractic school, I quickly realized I wanted to learn more of the “why” this was helping, or more importantly, not helping my patients. That need for understanding led me to a treatment approach or way of thinking that’s broadly called functional neurology. I went to a club meeting and watched a clinician work with one patient and explain in real time, neurologically, what was happening and why care to that point hadn’t worked, and what was missing. Then, proceed to methodically rehabilitate that patient. That was it for me. Since then, I’ve spent my entire career going deep on how the brain actually functions and what’s wrong when it doesn’t. The patients who find me have usually already been told their tests are normal and they’re fine. They’re not fine. They just need someone to ask different questions,
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Early in my education, I had a moment of doubt or lack of faith in the path I had chosen because I felt I wasn’t being given the depth of knowledge I needed to heal people. So I had to seek out information from as many different sources as I could.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a holistic neurology rehabilitation group. We help people with neuromotor developmental delays, suffered from concussions, brain injuries, migraines, dizziness, car accidents, and neuropathy. Particularly when symptoms are present but the tests and scans have been “normal” or “fine”.
As healthcare providers, we are proud to be honest in who we can help and who we can’t. It’s our belief that we need to be honest with the people we serve, even if it means we aren’t the ones who can help them.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve learned that while luck is a factor, and an important one, the harder you work for something the more luck you seem to have. If you’re waiting for a lucky break without trying to get it the hard way, you’re probably not going to get a lucky break.
