Today we’d like to introduce you to Iuliia Ishaeva.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have loved animals for as long as I can remember, but my passion for British Shorthair cats truly began after meeting this incredible breed. Their calm temperament, intelligence, and affectionate personalities completely captured my heart.
Before starting my cattery, I spent many years building a career in another field. Eventually, I realized I wanted to create something that reflected my values—quality, honesty, and genuine care for animals. That dream became BritishCatUSA.
Our cattery is located in Minnesota, where every kitten is raised inside our home as part of the family. From the very beginning, our goal has never been to produce a large number of kittens. Instead, we focus on raising healthy, well-socialized British Shorthairs with excellent pedigrees, beautiful breed type, and wonderful personalities.
Health and temperament are our highest priorities. We carefully select our breeding cats, provide regular veterinary care, complete health testing, and give every kitten the best possible start in life. By the time they join their new families, they are confident, affectionate, well-socialized, and fully litter trained.
One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is staying connected with the families who adopt our kittens. Watching them become cherished members of loving homes is the reason we do what we do.
Today, BritishCatUSA is more than a cattery—it is a family passion dedicated to preserving the beauty and wonderful temperament of the British Shorthair breed while helping people find lifelong feline companions.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a cattery is a 24/7 commitment. There are no weekends, holidays, or days off when you are responsible for living animals. From monitoring pregnancies and being present during births to caring for newborn kittens around the clock, every stage requires patience, knowledge, and dedication. Some nights are spent beside a mother cat during labor, while others are spent bottle-feeding a tiny kitten that needs extra support. Every kitten depends on us from its very first breath.
Another challenge is making difficult decisions that always put the cats’ health and well-being first. Responsible breeding means continually learning, working closely with veterinarians, and never compromising on the quality of care. It is demanding work, but seeing healthy, confident kittens join loving families makes every challenge worthwhile.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Love British Cat is the public brand of our TICA-registered cattery, BritishCatUSA, located in Minnesota. We specialize in British Shorthair and British Longhair kittens with excellent pedigrees, beautiful breed type, and wonderful temperaments.
Our kittens are born and raised in our home as members of our family. We believe responsible breeding begins with health, genetics, and early socialization. Every kitten receives individual attention from birth, along with veterinary care, vaccinations, deworming, and TICA registration before joining its new family.
What makes us different is our commitment to every kitten throughout its life. We carefully match each kitten with the right family and continue to support our owners long after adoption. Our goal is not simply to breed beautiful cats, but to raise healthy, confident companions that bring joy to their families for many years.
Our breeding program is built on carefully selected British Shorthair bloodlines from respected international catteries. Our cats come from pedigrees featuring distinguished TICA titles, including Champions (CH), Grand Champions (GRC), International Champions (ICH), Regional Winners (RW), and Quadruple Grand Champions (QGC), reflecting generations of excellence in health, temperament, and breed quality.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
