Hi Darnell, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I founded Imperial clothing design company during the covid-19 era of 2020 as an opportunity to give myself a way out. At that time in my life I was struggling and making poor life decisions that I knew was only holding me back from becoming a better version of myself. I always had great talent and was gifted from a young age and excelled in mostly anything I put my mind to but, not growing up in the best of environments and being surrounded by negative influence caused my life to spiral downhill in many ways. One day I decided though enough was enough and came up with an idea to create something that in my mind and heart I knew would resonate in the minds of those around me if given the opportunity. The name took me a while because I wanted it to resemble exactly what I always envisioned no matter my struggles in life. I always seen myself and others as being “Imperial”. I always thought highly of myself and those around me and wanted people to see me as something more than what title I allowed society to place upon me as a minority individual. As of today I have continued to give back to my community and taken part in many successful events and festivals in my surrounding area. I take full pride in being hands on with everything I do in my company which allows me to build a close and personal relationship with all who support me. I have had the chance to work with some really amazing people thus far and I know my journey is just beginning. This Fall I will be introducing the all-new on-line shopping experience for people to check out and support that will be featuring a catalog of all new designs created specifically by myself. I got to where I am by staying consistent, by staying motivated, by not letting circumstances or situations in my life cause me to keep giving up, by pushing myself even when I wanted to give up, and last but not least, by putting god first in my life and letting him work on me and through me. By continuing to be Imperial in every way. ✨️
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles I have endured along the way would include periods of homelessness, lack of righteous support from friends or family, a work-related injury in March of 2023 that left me in a coma for 3 days fighting for my life in an intensive care unit, after being found nonresponsive after 20 minutes, mental health issues stemming from my childhood upbringing, and even periods of incarceration and group homes as a teenager/ young adult.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am personally hands on during every step of the process and specialize in putting together some of the best-looking custom-made affordable apparel and accessories. I also love creating logos and high-quality designs from scratch. I also specialize in graphic design and computer animation. I am most proud of my authenticity, uniqueness, and artistic ability and feel like what sets me apart from others is that I will never become too old to learn new things and evolve with time, I will continue to create designs that have the ability to capture the eye and attention from anyone that believes in me and what Imperial Clothing Design Company stands for.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
There came a time in my life when I had to let go of childish behavior and begin truly living as a god-fearing man so Integrity, honesty, trust, compassion, love, and understanding are some of the qualities and characteristics I find important.
