Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Peasley.
Hi Brad, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We have been a successful streetwear clothing brand for sometime now but the specific line that lives inside of the clothing brand is what I want to share with you. It is a brand called ink over scars. It is a tattooed inspired, mental health awareness clothing brand. But it is much more than a clothing brand. It is about the scars we carry as people and the trauma that we live with as adults.
I had a rough year last year. I lost a lot and depression was starting to sit in. For me personally the best way I can kick out of that is to do things for other others so the ink over scars brand was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been fantastic. I know that is a weird word to use considering it’s all about trauma and people’s story when it comes to their scars but it really has taken off. We are letting the brand roll from the audience. People that have different stories and resonate with different things rather suicide awareness, breast cancer, overdose awareness etc. can add their story and come up with their own color scheme based on the ribbon that represents their story. We then turn that into a design for the brand
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an Artist first. The Unlimited Arts umbrella specializes in making custom streetwear. We do custom images that we put on all sorts of clothes like T-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants etc. We can handle everything from designing in the image, making the Clothing, designing your website or design designing your social media.
We are really known for having unique pieces and designing logos for people. The ink over scars brand has really put us in a different category because we’ve always wanted to create something so the community has a voice to be heard. We want to create something that hits the soul and something that has meaning. I’m really proud of the people that has gotten involved so far because it is a vulnerable subject for people to open up with especially with mental health things because they can be so personal.
The thing that really sets us apart is like I mentioned before we are letting the brand grow from the audience and from the community. If somebody wants to have a proof you made it (the slogan) charity walk then we will do that, if somebody wanted to design their own version of ink over scars we would make that. We are letting the community take control of their version of the brand
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The biggest thing about being an artist is just create the art for you first. Do what you love. Make the clothes that you want to wear. You as the Artist needs to come first and the people will find you. Never chase money only chase the art and being true to yourself. Your demographic of people will find you
