Today we’d like to introduce you to Wanita Nosbush.
Hi Wanita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband, Gerard, and I purchased the resort on long Lake, just east of Park Rapids MN in 1995. We renames it to CEDAR SHORES LODGE & RESORT, previously called Northward Ho! (like Westward Ho! We have owned and managed the resort ever since.
The resort was originally built in the late 20’s or early 30’s. In 2013 we decided to rebuild the old cabins with new log cabins. We hired Log Homes of MN, Walker MN to put the log shells up. Starting the fall of 2013 we removed and replaced cabins 9 & 10. With the help of our son, Louis, we were able to complete these two cabins starting in the fall and finishing in time for Memorial Weekend Family Rentals May 2014. Repeating this process every other year until all 9 cabins and the lodge were finished in spring of 2020. (there is no cabin 4, but that is a long story!) Over the years we have fallen in love with the resort and resort life, bringing Louis in as a partner in 2018. Louis plans to continue operating the resort for the for seeable future, the resort will celebrate 100 years in 2030! We have seen 4 generations passing through the resort in 32 years. Several families have been coming to this same resort for over 67 years!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
From 1995 – 2006 Gerard farmed along side is father in New Ulm MN (200+ miles from here) leaving me and our children here in Park Rapids to manage things. He would leave Sunday night or Monday morning and return by Friday each week spring and fall. That was the hardest part, being separated.

We are a small family resort with 9 cabins, Lodge/game room, Seasonal camping and weekly tent sites. We are located on beautiful Long Lake, east of Park Rapids MN. We are known for our customer service – we live on site. Our beach area is one of the best on Long Lake. Our cabins are newer, our grounds are well kept
