Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex ( SOLANA) Richter.
Hi Alex, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Latino artist from south Minneapolis. I use the stage name Solana My main focus is singer and making beats. My musical background came from singing in the choir and playing bass in a band with my highschool friends. My journey as a solo artist began in 2020. I had a relationship that ended and I moved into a one bedroom apartment on March 1st 2020. With in two weeks the whole world had shut down and I decided to write and record as much music as possible. Since there was no opportunity to perform at the time a made making social media content for my music my priority. I also learned to design my own cover art and clothing in this time. This time really opened up a freedom creativity where I really thrived. That year I really built my self a launching pad for creating music and a small fan base, since then I’ve been able to perform at some of the bigger events in the twin cities and I credit that to the year I spent doing nothing but sharpening my craft as a creative.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are absolutely struggles. One of the best tools I’ve build over the years is excepting the things that don’t work out. Being unphased by something that doesn’t work out and just proceed forward. For me the hardest obstacles to overcome come have been feeling like a song or show is a step backwards, meaning sometimes a new song doesn’t perform as well as the previous one did. Or a show didn’t go as well as the previous show. The perseverance to just move a head and not get down on yourself is paramount
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer/ recording artist. I specialize in writing and producing my own recordings. I’m most proud of having a lot of my songs with 10k or more listens. That’s ultimately what I do it for. I know how much music means to me to me. How much my favorite songs mean to me. If I can give that to someone else even in a small way I feel like I am fulfilled . I feel like what sets me apart from others is by making soul sample beats and then writing a song on top. I make music purely for my own listening, then when I share it publicly I think that authenticity resonates with people
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We will wade deeper and deeper into internet content. People who can do it all. Singer/rap/produce/make videos. Also people who collaborate via connections they made online. I personally am all for it!
