Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayden Ehrisman.
Hi Hayden, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got my first job when I was freshly 16 years old at Dairy Delite in 2017. This job quickly lead to more than just scooping ice cream seasonally. It led to me being a shift leader, manager, and now co-owner along side my mom, Gina Ehrisman.
For the first 4 years I worked at Dairy Delite I had no intentions of one day becoming the owner or a leader of a business, but when the opportunity presents itself it is something I just couldn’t say no to especially as a student studying entrepreneurship.
I am now going on 5 years of co-owning Dairy Delite along side my mom and it is the most blessed job I could ever have.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall, yes. I know this is very surprising as the food and beverage market isn’t always the easiest to operate in. I mean don’t get me wrong, owning a business isn’t easy and always comes with it’s ups and downs but nothing that my mom and I cannot handle or fail fast from and learn.
I am not trying to say that it’s been super easy owning and operating a successful business. I feel beyond grateful that I can say overall it has been a smooth role so far.
As you know, we’re big fans of Dairy Delite . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dairy Delite is a small town ice cream shop built in the 1950s that still serves you that same vibe today. It is a walk up ice cream shop that is open year round.
Dairy Delite employees a team of 25 teenagers, most of them whom is their first job. As a owner and leader it is so empowering to teach these teenagers all about the working class, becoming successful, and being able to watch them grow.
Dairy Delite serves all your favorite ice cream treats such as soft serve offerings and hard scoop ice cream offerings. Each month we offer new specials such as butter dipped ice cream, holiday specials, strawberry soft serve, and ice cream advent calendars leading up to the holiday season.
Dairy Delite is a community staple in heart of Downtown Lakeville.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Lakeville is an amazing fastly growing city that is home to many small business loving customers.
You could most definitely argue that Downtown Lakeville has a shortage of parking spots lol.
