Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a love and appreciation for skincare, it was pretty clear from an early age that it was my calling. In High school, I would volunteer to tweeze and shape my friends’ brows, do their makeup and I would create my own masks to keep my skin clear of blemishes. When I learned about the Esthetics program at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, I knew I had found my dream career! My then fiancé and now husband was and has been my biggest supporter. He offered to take a second job so I could attend the program full time and basically paid for my tuition.
School was exciting and totally paved the journey for the most fulfilling career I could ever have, Beautifying and empowering women! Helping them feel and look their best through facials and beautiful brows, simply amazing!!
I worked at a premier spa in the Twin Cities for 10 years which was a great foundation, while at work I would daydream of how I would do things differently to deliver better results if I had the freedom to do so.
My husband and I are originally from México, both of our parents had small businesses so we both grew up seeing our parents hustle. It had always been a dream
of us to have something of our own, to create a legacy that we could pass onto our kids.
We made that dream happened in 2015, We started by renting a small studio at a hair salon, we had a vision but we had to start small. Not only because of our budget but also because our kids were little.
I have been so fortunate to work with the most loyal and supportive clients, that the word quickly spread and the business totally took off. After 10 months we were already opening our own brick and mortar.
We created the most beautiful, private, and quaint spa. Our boutique approach has allowed us to create a completely different experience to our guests, where each service is always tailored to their specific needs. We have curated an extensive selection of clean beauty services and products to heal skin from the inside out.
Flawless Skin & Brow Boutique has now been open for 6 years, we have helped thousands and thousands of women transform their complexion.
Nothing makes us happier than seeing our clients live their best lives while feeling beautiful in their own skin.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been exciting and super rewarding but also challenging. My husband and I are creatives and dreamers but we did not go to business school so at the beginning there was a lot to learn that it was overwhelming at times.
Another challenge especially in the beginning was creating balance and setting boundaries, as a business owner and provider you have a huge responsibility that it was easy to work longer days and put ourselves at last.
