Hi Erin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved a good party and a fabulous event. I believe everyone should be a part of a happy celebration and put aside the worries of the world. My career has centered around planning corporate events, galas, grand openings, ribbon cuttings and business dinners; combine that with birthday party planning for my lovely daughters, planning showers for friends, and dinner parties – I finally took the plunge to event planning. We should all engage in things we love; I find joy in creating memories for others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Convincing others that their best interests are your priorities is hard. Also, finding your creativity and voice in a very crowded market.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Director of Media at Bain & Company. I have spent the past 18+ years in marketing and communications and love my job. Event planning is a nice balance to my day-to-day in marketing consulting.
Readers should know that you can balance your career and passions. It gives you strength and challenges your thought processes.
My business gives me an amazing creative outlet to bring others joy and help them celebrate special occasions in their lives. I am always here to listen. Let me create with you.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Put yourself out there. Don’t be afraid of joining organizations or reaching out to interesting individuals on social platforms. What I have found is that there are more people than you think that are willing to provide advice and guidance toward your career. Put yourself out there and find your advocates. And don’t forget to always believe in yourself.
