Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Westover.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At a young age, I was obsessed with sports. I played sports from age 4 until 18. As I grew older I grew out of shape due to lack of know on general nutrition, supplementation & overall workout & exercise experience. When I was a sophomore in high school I joined the football team at my local high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The guys spoke about Creatine being able to help with performance. Being a sophomore I had no job so I had to convince my mom to buy it for me, she wouldn’t buy it for me until I could explain to her what it was & how it worked. That began my obsession of dietary supplements.
At the age of 18, I got a job at a brick & mortar supplement shop. I absolutely fell in love with helping people better their health & fitness through supplements. Although supplements definitely are NOT required it can help tremendously. Through working that job as a sales associate and running multiple stores at a time I began to learn what I liked & didn’t like what the company did and how they operated. At the end of the day, they weren’t looking out for their customers & educating them properly. They were only looking out for their pocketbook. That’s what I wanted to change.
At the age of 21, I enlisted in the U.S Army. That influenced my health & fitness life as well, helping others around me and younger soldiers pass their PT test.
Fast forward to 2021, I run an e-commerce dietary supplement store that’s been in business for 2 years with one day the goal of opening up a brick & mortar store of my own.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No such thing as a smooth road in business & life. If someone tells you that’s they’re full of shit. The biggest struggle for me has always been money. Money is clearly essential in business. Since I didn’t have money I had to get really creative & work very hard and long hours and hustle hard.
Going into my business I didn’t know anything about e-commerce but it required very low overhead and was the best way I could start my business. So I had to learn everything there was about business & the e-commerce world. I’m still learning new things until this very day.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve been lucky to have some close friends who have built successful businesses to guide me & be transparent with me when I was wrong or to call me out for doing something outright dumb.
My advice for finding a mentor is make sure they have done what you’re looking to do. Example: if your potential “mentor” has never built a business & you’re trying to, why are they your mentor if they’ve never done what you’re trying to?
