Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Kraemer.
Hi Kimberly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello! I’m Kimberly, owner of MN Basket Girl! I’m a Minnesota native-born and raised in a small town south of the Twin Cities and currently living in Tonka Bay with my family.
I love the Minnesota seasons and of course all holidays in between. I’m a sucker for cute local products, coffee, the color pink and chocolate! I have always loved being creative with gift giving and making gifts extra special.
All of my basket designs are curated by me, myself and I. Sampling and taste testing new products is required…I love what I get to call “work”.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When the pandemic hit in 2020 I was faced with an inbox of cancelled events that temporarily didn’t need my basket services due to event cancellations. I needed to make changes fast if I was going to stay afloat. It quickly became very high demand for individuals to need to send care packages, birthday, get well, Easter, Mother’s Day, etc baskets to family and friends who couldn’t get together due to the pandemic. Within a week I created new basket designs for these needs, stocked up on inventory and created a website for customers to purchase baskets from. I offered doorstep delivery and the option to ship. In the business world I was busy curating employee zoom meeting baskets, 5k race day participation basket boxes, virtual celebration options for galas and company holiday baskets to replace the traditional company holiday parties.
2020 was a busy year and full of changes. I still can’t believe I did it all!!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My mission is to eliminate the stresses of last minute shopping and renew the joys of gift giving.
My secret ingredient? I keep it local.
As the demand for locally made products became the thing I wanted to change it up and rebrand. In 2018 MN Basket Girl was born. I’m proud to offer products that are all made with Minnesota Love!
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that our city has so many talented and creative local artisans and makers! It’s amazing to live in a city where people are so proud of supporting local businesses.
