Today we’d like to introduce you to Mini Me Sports.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ajrian, our founder who used to be a teacher at Yellow Brick Road, and many other Early childcare schools, he started noticing a couple of different things that stood out to him. First, Children had only a few ways to exert energy. Secondly, Teachers’ hours in early childcare are longer than your typical “School ” day but only get 30 minutes to an hour break. Thirdly, the lack of sports options for children under 5, besides Soccer, swimming, and T-ball. How do you bring excitement to an Early Child care center that doesn’t even have field trips for kids, some of these kids are just looking forward to art projects and recess? So I thought about a company called Mini Me Sports, this company will allow Teachers to get more prep time for their classes, an opportunity for children to learn about many different sports that helps build character at an early age, and give us an opportunity to add more leaders in their lives. Once I allowed this idea to sit in my brain for a while, I finally brought it to My Co founder Ronald Spielman, whose family has a huge History in Sports. His dad is Rick Spielman (GM of the Vikings), His brother is James Donald Spielman, a former Nebraska husky and TCU Bullfrog and Ronald Spielman played lacrosse for Ohio State. There was no one better to partner up with than Ronald Spielman, His dad has prepared for the business side of things and sports come natural for him, a true athlete, but most importantly he was the BEST teacher in our school- Every Kid loves Mr. Ronnie! Ronnie loved the idea and said let’s do it, so here we are.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning a business with multiple business partners can be a struggle for different personalities, but what I’ve learned is that it also creates a sense of unity. Over the years of Running Mini Me Sports, we have learned a lot from each other and focused on implementing the way of Mini Me sports into communities in Minnesota. We are running a youth sports program, so our goal is to try and get as many children signed up as possible. With that being said, there are some parents who feel as if sports aren’t important. Our challenges come from convincing parents that sports are more than kids just running around, but it builds character and helps children socially. This is an obstacle that I actually love running into because it gives us the opportunity to express how passionate we are about leading our youth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ajrian: Founder Of Mini Me Sports
1. I am the visionary of the business and I help run marketing and sales.
2. I’m known for bringing ideas to the table that can help our business grow exponentially.
3. To be honest, I am most proud of having owners on the team that believes in Mini Me Sports.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory, a memory I will never forget. My mom was sitting in front row at my basketball game(5th grade) and in the 2nd quarter, I scored 16 points and shot a buzzer-beater right in front of her.
