Rising Stars: Meet Andrew Mullin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Mullin.

Hi Andrew, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I am a long time Minnesota and Lake Minnetonka resident and am a big believer in promoting the Lake Life lifestyle. I am the creator of Wai Nani Surf Paddle and Pedal, Wayzata Match Cup, Bash for the Boardwalk, and Big Water Big Table which blends work & play to celebrate the best of what Minnesota’s summer has to offer. A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison and also a Tommy as a graduate of the Opus College of Business (MBA) I have spent the majority of my career in tech sales and marketing leadership roles ranging from my current role of leading marketing for geospatial analytics firm EarthDaily to past roles at Shutterfly and Infor.

I am a big believer in Public Service and currently serve on the boards of the University of St Thomas Business School, The YMCA, The Wayzata Conservancy and am a past local elected official. My personal motto is to learn, earn and give back always and teach others to do the same.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My philosophy in life and business is – “Let’s get to GO; not to NO” so I view obstacles or challenges as opportunities. Success is not a destination – It’s a journey. I am all about the climb….

“There’s always gonna be another mountain
I’m always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes I’m gonna have to lose
Ain’t about how fast I get there
Ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side.”

It’s the climb by Jessi Alexander

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Wai Nani Surf Paddle & Pedal was created out of the passion, enjoyment and escape that one can experience when wandering the water on trails or on a paddleboard, kayak or bike. Lake Minnetonka is a Dakota word which means “Big Water”; the name Wai Nani pays tribute to paddleboarding’s Polynesian origin. Wai Nani, pronounced why-na-nee, means “beautiful water” in Hawaiian. Our vision is to bring like-minded people together to experience wandering the beautiful big water. For us, this is a lifestyle business celebrating the “lake life”

We operate Wai Nani as a family business with all family members involved. We all love the lake from sailing to paddleboarding to e-biking the vast trails out west.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Likes – A good ice cream cone, your favorite tune, and a boat any kind of boat.

Dislikes – Negative people and social media troll.
