Today we’d like to introduce you to Renita Price.
Hi Renita, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always known that I wanted to be in Hair Industry, I just didn’t think it would take so long. Growing up in Chicago and being raised by Entrepreneurs, I take everything that I’ve learned about “being your own boss” from a young age and apply to my business everyday, reaffirming that anything worth having is worth working hard for!
As a young girl, I knew that I needed to do something with all of my creative skills, I just couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I tried Writing, Sewing Clothing, Dancing, acting, and even the Medical Field. But it wasn’t until I got fed up with Prerequisite courses and not being able to fully express myself in the way I wanted to that I had one simple conversation with my mom and she reminded me of my true passion, the beauty industry! From then on, my number one goal is to have each and every one of my “Slayed Beauties” feel special and empowered, leaving out of my Salon happier than when they came in.
I finally got the nerve to enroll in Cosmetology School. There, I tapped into abilities I didn’t even know I had! From Coloring to Cutting to doing Hair Extensions, I was just amazed in the endless amount of avenues you can go in this industry. Fast forward two and a half years taking all the skills I’ve learned along the way, helped me with being able to open my own Salon Suite, giving each client the Celebrity Experience. Which brings us to today, I have just leased my first 3247 sqft Storefront Salon and Spa In Eden Prairie allowing me to share with and support all that join the Slayed Beauty Family. Giving me the space and opportunity to really display all that I have to offer… And so the “Slayage” Begins!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I started in the industry there were a few bumps in the road with trust and unwarranted competition, and a few people lost me along the way. But I quickly realized that I had to go through those things to create the Woman that I am today. So I now make it my business to be the support for the up and coming Hairstylists and Small Business owner, that feel supported and heard.
Sometimes, especially when you’re just starting out, that’s really all you need!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

I believe that you get what you give, and I make it my personal business to give my all to my clients, valuing their time as they do mine. I absolutely love what I do and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. If I can make a difference by merely making Women and Girls feel more confident, strong and empowered, then I’ve done my job.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Essential qualities that I feel are most important to my success is the customer service I provide. I make sure that my clients get all of me! I go above and beyond for my Slayed Beauties and I honestly think this is why I book out 2-3 months at a time. I also am big on respecting time, it is so precious and as much as I value my own time, I have to do the same for my clients.
I also feel being patient and understanding with each of my clients plays a tremendous role in the success of by business. Making sure their voices are heard and providing a safe space for them to be themselves. Being an “ear” to listen and sometimes a shoulder to cry on, fulfills me in a way that I have yet to explain! All of these qualities combined with my skills, sets me apart from the rest. And for that I am grateful!
