Hi Ericha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’ve always wanted to own a boutique but didn’t want a brick and mortar. I thought having a traveling boutique would be nice where I could offer cute, unique and trendy clothes at a moderate price point. I love fashion and have an eclectic taste in clothes, I also enjoy meeting people so I thought this was a great way to meet people, and keep active as an empty nester. Von Lucy Mobile Boutique grand opening was in October 2019 in the Chicagoland area in Illinois. The idea started a year prior, it took about a year to bring the idea to fruition. Today, we have relocated from Chicagoland to Minnesota Twin Cities area as of August 2021, we are in the process of establishing a business in Minnesota.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many challenges along the way. Some challenges include: finding the right person to retrofit the truck, finding the right events to park the truck, finding my target customers, managing both online shop and truck. Also, the pandemic has negatively impacted my business, I started my business right before the pandemic, 2020 most events i planned to attend was canceled but i manage to push forward hoping this pandemic will end soon or we will learn to thrive in this pandemic being it may become the “new normal”
We’ve been impressed with Von Lucy Mobile Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Von Lucy is a Women’s an online and mobile fashion boutique. Our boutique clothing style is unique and eclectic. We originated from Chicagoland area and now based in the Minnesota Twin Cities area. Every item is handpicked and curated by our buyers to deliver trendy and quality apparel. We offer a great shopping experience, whether you’re shopping on the online, or via the truck. We ship anywhere in the US and Canada, the truck can also be booked for private events and parties free of charge.
We listen to our customers and take into consideration our customers comments, questions and feedback when selecting inventory for each season. All of our items are hand picked and we don’t buy unless we’re almost obsessed with an item. Also, quality is very important, all of our inventory are hand picked from vendors we’ve met a trade shows, so we know what we’re getting when we order.
Also, before an item is shipped to a customer, or sold on the truck it is thoroughly inspected.
