Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Archie.
Hi Brandon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I specialize in working with buyers and sellers of residential real estate. My main focus is providing the education and information necessary for my clients to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. I post Youtube videos, content on social media, free homebuyer classes, etc. Most REALTOR®s won’t do all of the things I do and they try and get your information first before they will talk to you about the process but I don’t do that. I put it out there without expecting anything in return. I pride myself on not being “salesy” because I know I don’t like when people try to “sell” me something. I look at myself more as an advisor to help you figure your options out and find out what works best for you.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. People think you get your real estate license and then you just start selling houses. Real estate is a relationship business and you have to get out and talk to people. You have to find what sets you apart from everyone else and focus on that, but you need to understand that it takes a while to start getting clients. I didn’t get my first client until almost 10 months after getting my license. The other big thing I struggled with is the confidence to go full-time. You want to make sure that you’re always available for your clients but there’s always that fear of taking the safety net of 9 to 5 job away. Real estate is commission based and you only get paid when you sell something. I have a mortgage, a 12-year-old to feed and all kinds of other bills so it was not an easy decision. I’ve recently started getting referrals from past clients and people I went to school with, and it has really helped with my confidence because it shows that people trust me. My only goal is work my butt off for them the same way my REALTOR® did for me and ensure that they have a great experience. When you focus on the positive, then everything else will fall into place.
How did you get into the business and what do you do for your clients?
My mom loves interior design and I used to go with her to Parade of Homes during the Spring to look at all of the new houses. I was instantly intrigued and inspired by all of these nice homes, and doing the Parade of Homes quickly became somewhat like an annual tradition. I think that’s where the idea of becoming a REALTOR® initially started, but the idea of working for myself was way too scary at the time.
Fast forward to 2018 when I bought my first house, I had no clue how the process worked and I really leaned heavily on my REALTOR® to guide me down the right path. It was very nerve-wracking because I was spending all of this money and signing contracts but I had no clue what was even going on. Luckily, I had a great REALTOR® who worked her butt off for me and answered all of my questions. After I finally closed and got my keys I started painting, buying new appliances, new furniture, etc. There was a new sense of pride that I got from owning a home and finally being able to do all of the things I watched on HGTV for all those years. More importantly, after going through the buying process I started thinking about all of the other people out there like me that had no clue how to buy a home. With that thought, I finally decided to get my real estate license.
In April of 2019, I got my real estate license while I was still working my full-time job. In December of 2020, I left that job and began doing real estate full-time. Since getting my license, I’ve doubled by business every year and am on track to do even more than that in 2022. I thank my family, friends and past clients that I’m able to take this dive into owning my own business because it wouldn’t be possible without them.
My main goal when I work with clients is to educate. I always keep my own home buying experience in the back of my mind and I try and put as much free information out as I possibly can so that other aspiring home buyers have a place to go to learn that the home buying process isn’t as scary as they think it is. I teach home buyer classes, send monthly newsletters and even have a Youtube channel where I discuss a variety of topics related to homeownership. I do all of this without asking for nothing in return because I truly feel that people should have this info available to them.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The experience that client has with me is the most important thing to me. Without clients, I’m not in business, and seeing my clients’ faces after closing on their homes is the greatest feeling I’ve ever had in my career. People do business with people they know, like and trust and I want to be the person you feel comfortable coming to when you need real estate help or even when you just have questions. It shows me that I’m doing a good job and that I need to keep it up.
