Meet Jessica Strobel of Jessica Strobel photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Strobel.

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Jessica Strobel Photography after leaving my job running a Montessori School And a brief stint as a stay at home mom. I  learned being a stay at home mom was hard. Like, really really hard. If I’m completely honest, I wanted and needed some time away from my children and wanted something that was just mine. I’m a psych and social work(ish) major by trade. (I only get the Ish because I only completed one year of my masters cause I got sober. 12 years going strong.) I wanted something with flexibility. Therefore, I started this little business that’s just mine. I’ve been a photographer for about 4 years now and I love it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Tons of failures. TONS. If it was easy – everyone would do it- right? We learn the most when we fail- but most importantly we keep trying and continue to show up. Don’t be afraid of failure.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jessica Strobel photography?

Capturing the genuine moments between people is what I do best. That’s actually part of why I offer so many session types! It’s not because I’m not a specialist, but rather because my work is about CONNECTION. Connection with your family. Connection with your audience. Connection with YOU. That’s also part of why about 95% of my clients return later, for additional sessions! My goal is to become your go-to photographer, whether you’re starting a family, starting a business… or both.

Brand wise- I’m an open book. What you see is what you get. I don’t shy away from voicing my opinions per se.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Ya know- I wish I could go back and would have told myself to pay for one. The time and energy that was wasted were crazy. It’s totally worth the investment. Be open to knowing that you don’t “know it all”.

And reach out to someone’s work you like. Many small businesses like myself are willing to point people in the right direction or have a cup of coffee.
