Daily Inspiration: Meet Krizia Almoite of Krizia Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krizia Almoite.

Hi Krizia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My photography journey is unconventional; a beautiful accident if you will.

It all started when I lost my corporate job amidst a global pandemic in August 2022. With only 8 weeks of learning under my belt, I took the leap and registered as a business just 5 days after I lost my job. I started Krizia Studios as a means of survival, but it quickly turned into my passion and a unique way for me to express myself creatively.

Taking the leap has led to a domino effect of life-changing opportunities. Two months after I started my business, I found myself on a movie set as a photographer on a feature film. This experience was life changing—it opened doors, opportunities, and allowed me to meet my mentors (and new friends) who have transformed my life & who have helped guide me in my creative journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has been a tumultuous ride for many reasons. Navigating a new career that I just learned and turning it into a business during a global pandemic presented many challenges. In a way, I had to reverse engineer being a photographer. I had to not only learn how to become a good photographer but also be a profitable photographer to be able to do it full-time.

Moreover, the challenge of finding my own unique style and specialty that resonate with me the most took a lot of trial and error to hone down. Nonetheless, this tumultuous ride has been worth the struggle as it forced me to constantly push myself creatively by testing out insanely complex ideas that are deemed impossible. It helped shaped me into a better artist today and refined the direction I want to go.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a conceptual, commercial, and film production photographer.

I create highly thematic, conceptual, and disruptive art that integrates storytelling using visual narrative. My stylistic approach is best described as avant-garde, evocative, surrealistic, and rebellious. Constantly drawing inspiration from the intricacies of my immigration journey to tell a unique perspective often deemed outlandish or unconventional.

My signature style is fusing extreme elements (e.g., fire, levitation, etc.) and creating a highly intricate practical set (a set where the special effects is done in real life; instead of Photoshop) to challenge the viewer’s perspective.

I enjoy challenging myself to bring something “impossible” come alive. It dares me to push myself to new horizons and further perpetuates the message I want to convey—that with ingenuity and hard work, nothing is impossible. Expressing myself unapologetically through art without boundaries is my American Dream.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that nothing is impossible. Live life with passion, purpose, unquenchable curiosity, and hard work and everything else will fall in the right place.
