Conversations with Rich Pedro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rich Pedro.

Hi Rich, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As a kid, it was all about football. I didn’t want to do anything else but play football. Having to mature and take on adult responsibilities at a young age made a profession in football unrealistic. Although Music has always been a big part of the way I live my life, I never thought I would be into recording music and performing for live crowds. I guess the music journey starts in 2019. Just another regular day in the studio, where I spent a lot of time anyway, a friend asks me to get on a track. At first, I’m very hesitant because being a rapper was never my thing. After about an hr. of recording songs, it was obvious music is something I can and should take seriously. fast forward 3 years later and I’m doing things I never thought I was capable of. Creating art with my voice, Performing for crowds, hosting nightlife events, even starting my own clothing brand “real za”. “real za” to me is simple, your favorite movie, is real za. your “OOTD” (outfit of the day) is real za. real za is just another way to compliment, it’s just a little lingo for the culture. along the way thus far I’ve had plenty of ups and downs that would drive most people to give up but what started as just something to do for fun has turned into chasing a dream and I won’t quit until this marathon is completed.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is never going to be completely smooth but I’ve made the best of it. the biggest hurdle is the “crab in a bucket” mentality that we have here in Minnesota. instead of us artists coming together and seeing the bigger picture for the better outcome we step on each other and pull each other down for the benefit of ourselves which down the line benefits nobody at all. I’ve dealt with plenty of gatekeeping and black balling from venues and certain personalities around the city but that has not stopped me from achieving my goals and setting new ones.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Although, I have a clothing brand, host nightlife events, and make music, I think being a rapper is what I’m most proud of to this point. I spend a lot of time in the studio making music and perfecting my craft. being able to create with my voice and use different flows and styles really has amazed me over the years. I’ve never been a shy guy but performing for people and controlling an audience is something far beyond what I had fathomed. with that being said, my versatility is what sets me apart from others anywhere around the world. I will never box myself in. I’ve always been good at a lot of things and I will continue to grow as an artist and creative.

What matters most to you?
what matters most to me is molding the future I’ve always wanted for me and my loved ones. Buying my mom her dream house, buying dad that dream Cadillac. Things that may seem materialistic to others but these are the things that may bring your people joy and their joy may bring you peace.
